Exactly, boxing has had few to no household names in the history of the sport. All it takes is a look at the historical PPV data to know this. Haymon's top guys are already making peak compfor the non-PPV tier. It's not like guys can pull a Ward and get $5 million twice to lose money on a PPV. That was an analogy (bad business by Roc Nation) Just look at what Kovalev got for those fights. With Cotto walking away at the end of the year, and Pacquiao's exit coming not that long after, don't act as if your friend can point out who the fighters are when you bring them over to watch Golden Boy's cards either.
Outside of Canelo, point to a signed fighter who magically has all this great exposure from their promoterComment

Canelo Alvarez the face of boxing 🥊 that’s who, one of the few smart fighters that avoided/declined Haymon advances three times, and looked what happened is the main man in boxing..... smart man that Canelo guy.Comment

Saul Alvarez was basically already established before Schaefer got pushed out, is solely a PPV fighter at this point, and calls his own shots (nevermind keeping the Mexico TV and sponsors to himself and basically having an 80/20 split with Golden Boy on everything else).
To put Canelo's success on Oscar is utterly ridiculous.Comment

Richard Schafer was the brain of gbp. Oscar is such a great promoter that he let Schafer and haymon take alot of key fighters away from him. Notice his only fighter is canelo.Comment

Said a TMT team guy, you realize TMT is 10 times less profitable than GBP? So next time you open your big mouth, do your research first so you don’t look like a foolComment

Canelo could leave Oscar tomorrow and do anything he wants without worry. It's been like that for years. Schaefer, Showtime, and Floyd's undercards then main event built him up fabulously. He's his own entity.
Oscar wasnt even present for his first headlining PPV. Let's not go there.Comment

so you think that oscar had nothing to do with the success of canelo..do you think he would have gotten this far being promoted by tuto zavala's all star boxingSaul Alvarez was basically already established before Schaefer got pushed out, is solely a PPV fighter at this point, and calls his own shots (nevermind keeping the Mexico TV and sponsors to himself and basically having an 80/20 split with Golden Boy on everything else).

Are you for real? Weather you haters want to admit it or not, the truth is Oscar carried boxing in his shoulders alone for years, always had good connections with sponsors as well as with networks, HBO has always backed Oscar and their trust still intact even when he left them for Showtime. They know that, and Oscar always brings value to the network. It’s a reciprocal relationship.Canelo could leave Oscar tomorrow and do anything he wants without worry. It's been like that for years.
