Because Canelo was the MIDDLE WEIGHT CHAMPION, which is a title held at the limit of 160 pounds. If you are MW champion you defend the title at 160, otherwise don't call yourself MW champion and just give up your belt, which he did. No real champion gives his belt away rather than defend it.

You clowns that want to convince the world that he was scared of Golovkin are fooling no one. He sent him a reasonable contract and was declined. Golovkin is too small anyway.
I think the argument is the other way around. Only the biggest GGG nutthuggers thought Ward was scared of GGG. What we actually thought was that Ward was grandstanding and using GGG's burgoning reputation to keep his own name in the spotlight during his long stretches of inactivity. Ward hadn't even made 168 since 2013 so there is extreme doubt that he would have even been able to make that weight to fight GGG if GGG was willing to go there. The problem here is that clowns like about***intime like to talk $h!t about GGG and blame him for not dropping down in weight to fight guys like Lara and Cotto or to move up to fight Ward and Froch. This and other evidence shows that weights were just as much a factor in Ward/Froch's decisions not to fight GGG as it was the other way around.

funny because that's what they were so against. if its a title fight then no cw!! that's their stance when pac fought cotto for the 147 belt so not sure why they're now saying why wouldnt ggg go down to fight canelo at 155.

Ward money? Is Ward a PPV draw? JCC and Froch are big money fights, Ward is not. Ward was also crying about shoulder injuries and promoters at the time and barely fighting once per year. The man couldn't fill an arena in his own home town of Oakland, a major city. Besides, Ward is the one who talked about coming down to a CW to fight GGG, and when Golovkin said yes, Ward said no.

Meanwhile, you and the rest of the Ward fans still can't answer why he would burn down to 160 to fight Floyd but not GGG. Yes, Floyd is a bigger money fight, but if you are the fearless warrior you claim to be, then come on down to 160 for GGG too. If you are willing to fight one at that weight, fight the other.

Risk reward. Fighting Floyd out of your natural weight brings high reward even if you lose. Its no wonder a lot of boxers will make an exception if they don't mind a high probability of a lose due to fighting outside their natural weight and the biased judging.
