Yes I am a boxing fan and I don't give a **** about the UFC.Im convinced you just play silly on the net lol but check out a few articles (because I think you're actually a boxing fan):
"WME-IMG Seeks TV Knockout as UFC Rights talks Begin"
"Showtime interested in UFC Broadcast deal when FOX contracts is up"
"PBC plots path to maximize rights, distribution"
Top Rank and ESPN made that deal as a defensive move for what's coming.
Basically the UFC will determine where PBC ends up (if you pay attention to the details).
FOX, HBO, and CBS -- Showtime
are all lobbying for the UFC behind the scenes.
Once the dust settles, PBC will be scooped up by one of them. It's a no brainer from a content standpoint.
Recall, WME-IMG was looking yo buy the boxing library from Top Rank. Entertainment executives see boxing can be packaged. The model has been validated.
I don't watch it so I don't care for it.Comment

frampton and Jacobs are just the first dominos to fall as pbc continues to meet its demise.Showtime offered more money for Stevenson-Kovalev than HBO was willing to put up, and there's been no hint that HBO is even willing to put money behind JoJo Diaz at this point either. Try not being an idiot for once.
Jacobs and his camp made the decision to bring Eddie Hearn on as his promoter, Hearn joined the camp and was able to secure a deal with HBO that Jacobs was cool with (no mention of the money involved, but it should be fair to assume that it wasn't cheap; should get a better hint when the first HBO fight happens), and the rest is the rest.
Haymon should trim the roster asap. Keep his core 50 or so guys on showtime and cut bait with the rest. Most of his stable isn't happy with lack of activity. Hearn said he had 12 more fighters contact him once the jacobs deal was announced.
With Jacobs already having a manager and now a promoter and an exclusive network deal Haymon doesn't have almost any control with Jacobs anymore. Surely other fighters see this so he needs to make a move soonComment

Every time Haymon is mentioned we have people hating the guy. The fighters love him, he must be doing something right.
I just don't understand boxing fans. They hate promoters/TV that rob the fighters, then they hate the guy that gets the fighters more.Last edited by Robbie Barrett; 09-24-2017, 10:52 PM.Comment

Then praise one of the biggest crooks in sports history in another breath (Arum), who's been investigated by the FBI multiple times for match fixing, destroyed the careers of hundreds of fighters, overcharges fighters for his "promotion" (as high as 35%), and continues to **** over legends like Pacquiao to this day. It's bizarre.
Meanwhile we've never seen a single fighter say anything remotely negative about Haymon. I think the closet I've seen is Bernard Hopkins take a shot or two after he didn't get Stevenson. Hardly a credible complaint. We've even had court documents reveal that he wasn't even charging guys for his services, allowing them to pocket that extra 5 - 10%.Comment

That's because ESPN is cutting costs left and right and made it clear they wouldn't be interested in pursuing a lucrative rights deal with PBC. Once it was known there was no future with ESPN, Haymon used up the dates he'd already paid for and then cut ties.
The entire point of flooding the ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX properties with boxing was to give each of them a taste, gauge who would be most interested in paying, and then focus on those willing to pay and cut ties with those unwilling. This is common sense.
ESPN is in the midst of a corporate crisis and there was an edict to cut costs. There's nothing PBC could do about that. Fox is willing to spend money on FS1 to gain ground on ESPN just as CBS is willing to spend money on Showtime to gain ground on HBO. Haymon is focusing on the outlets willing to spend more money.if pbc was such a great model Espn would have picked it up way back then.Comment

Listen i totally get what your saying but if Espn and top rank agreed to a 4 year deal with 18 cards in the first year alone without doing a single time buy they must have done something right that Pbc couldnt do after spending hundreds of millions. I guarantee Pbc would have jumped at an opportunity like that, instead they are holding their breath hoping fox sports1 will give them a deal. But my question is why would they? He has a long history of backstabbing with his fighters having mismatches on one network just to let them fight a big fight on another, thats why hbo cut ties with him. Now hes putting his good fights on Showtime and expects Fs1 to trust him to deliver good fights, we'll see what happens I guess, this should be interestingThat's because ESPN is cutting costs left and right and made it clear they wouldn't be interested in pursuing a lucrative rights deal with PBC. Bingo you hit the nail on the head, the only way Pbc will work is by having an exclusivity agreement like top rank has with espn and showcase his best talent on one network, otherwise Pbc is doomed. Thats not to say his fighters couldnt fight on other cards but as far as the cards that Pbc promotes they need to be on one network. Hopefully it fizzles out fast and all Haymon fighters sign on to an actual promoter, like someome said earlier hes an advisor he should stick to that and leave the promoting up to the promotersframpton and Jacobs are just the first dominos to fall as pbc continues to meet its demise.

Jacob's main competitors (GGG, Canelo) are fighting on HBO, so it makes sense for Jacobs to be on HBO.
The real question is where does this leave Charlo at?
He will be the only middlweight contender signed with Showtime so what happens to him now?
Well he does have that mandatory shot so something will have to give but it seems like it could coz him some problems either way.Comment
