Let's look at Mayweathers career directly before and after top rank from what was reported. *Fighters purses are not divided and any errors public reporting in could change numbers significantly.

Mayweather 25 mil vs Hatton 11 mill
920k ppv 36 million for the fighters
Reported 47 mil ppv + 10 mil gate revenue generated 57 mil
        fighters make 63%

Mayweather 25 mil vs Delahoya 58 mil
2.4mil ppv Golden Boy. 83 million for fighters
Reported ppv and gate 163 mil.
        Fighters make 50%

Mayweather 8 mil vs Baldomir 1.6 mil
325k ppv Dan goosen 9.6 million for fighters
        16.3 million.
        Fighters made 53%
        ------------------
Mayweather 5 million vs Judah 3 million
370k ppv Top Rank. 8 million for fighters
        Reported made 16.8 million
        fighters made 47%
**judah was garaunteed 1 million plus a percentage of profits over 7 million(equivalent to over 140k ppv*number not adjusted for gate)

Mayweather 3.2 million vs Gatti 3.5 million
340k ppv. Top Rank 6.7 million for fighters
        Reported 15.3 million generated
        fighters made 43%
        --------
The money value next to Floyd, that's his final cut, or that's before all the stuff you include, like PPV, gate, etc.?

And holy mother of jesus, Oscar made $58 mil for that fight? That had to have been the highest net income of a single fight before Floyd's run.

And that $58mil was his final take home pay, or before all the goodies included onto his check?

I will give Floyd credit. The son of a gun taught fighters to at least try and carve your own path, and don't just sell yourself to the Don King's, and Bob Arum's of the world.

At the end of the day, I'd rather the fighter take the lump sum of the total revenue earned, then some slimey ass, reptilian mother ****er like Don King.

Chose wisely. Al Haymon was the brains and Floyd obeyed his every wish, but Floyd did choose very, very wisely

That avatar is amazing btw. I think Arum laid some decent ground work. Floyd was always promoted as the greatest of all time, that Arum had ever seen. Thats how commentators spoke about Floyd when he was in the ring. He was looked at, as "the one"

And the ppvs with Gatti and Zab was great foundation layouts. Those fights were HUGE, just not near what he does these days.

But he got Oscar, a fight Arum didnt think was possible or made sense, and he talked all that trash. And people were blown away by the "concept" of Floyd. He is the greatest, but very immature, silly, child-like, talks crazy trash, and anomaly trains HARD. All those things combined, didnt make sense. And he came across as an Ali type.

Just a special person. You would think a guy that silly and childish, would be lazy. I think that fight did it.

Then he had the Hatton fight which was a barn burner. So at that time, he became like the face of PPV. This is the guy you MUST see. He has a fight coming up!? We gotta watch that.

So he went on that layoff, and when rumors of his return hit, it was like "Oh shiet, we are going to have some events to watch and enjoy."

When he faced JMM, he was so slick. It wasnt exciting, or boring. It was more so fascinating, that a fighter could be that talented. And in all sports, you want to see greatness. Remember, no one was booing those fights.

They used to go "Oooh and ahhh" everytime he did a fancy counterpunch. Around that time Pac had blew up. But Floyd didnt become a boring fighter until that Ghost fight. After that, he put on an ATG performance against Nelio!

Then after that, he aged and started running. But by that time, he was set, but those ppvs didnt do that well.

So for Floyd, talent, luck, circumstances, catapulted him. I think Crawford can be the next big thing. He has that slick style that people will want to see, but he's a bit more aggressive. I think he has more potential than GGG or Canelo, but Canelo is slick too. He has a country behind him so he will be similar to Oscar. Mexicans support their guy!!!

Loyalty and OCD about his money I'd say. He never had eyes bigger than his stomach and amassed wealth slowly, building trust with influential people like Haymon. In the peak of his fame he stayed diligent with his money, unlike most boxers who delegate everything to eggheads. He probably had weekly meetings with his accountants to stay on top of his balances.
