I'm not talking about stocks and money and bonds and I could care less what this does for MC's wallet. This is about the reputation of the sport of boxing. There is nothing shortsighted about the magnitude of this fight and the huge upset that the entire sportsworld would feel and yes, it would for the history of the sport be remembered for that statement that was made. This would be a massive win in the UFC win column and a HUGE I told you so for UFC and a monstrous disaster for boxing if MC wins.
Why it's NOT bad for boxing if McGregor wins

Because it was a fight that no one cared about on a small promotion.I don't believe that at all.
And yea okay maybe boxing fans were loling about the Mercer thing for a couple weeks, but ultimately that was Mercer vs Sylvia fighting not boxing vs MMA. Fans are dramatic as f#ck doe. In particular boxing fans.
Boxing is a part of MMA. So its not quite true that he's never boxed. Its not like this is Charles from accounting throwing on gloves for the first time ever & KOing Floyd if that were to happen by Conor on the 26th.
And it is an embarassment. That a 50 year old boxer knocked out a world class MMA fighter in 5 seconds. That can't be said about boxing.
He has no Boxing experience. He has never boxed. MMA striking ain't boxing.Comment

In short, Boxing would never be the same.I'm not talking about stocks and money and bonds and I could care less what this does for MC's wallet. This is about the reputation of the sport of boxing. There is nothing shortsighted about the magnitude of this fight and the huge upset that the entire sportsworld would feel and yes, it would for the history of the sport be remembered for that statement that was made. It legitimacy goes down, it would be held in less regard.
As it stands, no one would give any MMA fighter a chance to even compete with a world class boxer in Boxing. If McGregor wins, that all changes.
The sport would be a laughing stock to be honest. Would delegitimise a wholeeeeee load of top fighters, HOF'ers, even legends.Comment

I'm just saying some boxing fans are super dramatic & extreme all the time about everything that happens. You guys are like women watching a soap opera with making everything the max level of drama it can be made out to be. And you guys are also notorious for not seeing any upside to anything which boxing swiping the biggest draw in combat sports surely would be if Conor were to win.
Its just two guys fighting. One is gonna lose. Unless its a draw or no contest. Thats how it always works out. It ain't that serious.Comment

You don't need to have had a professional or amateur career to have experience boxing. Nate Diaz has no pro boxing experience either, but he's sparred several times with Andre Ward among other pro boxers & that surely has to count for something on the boxing experience scoreboard.Because it was a fight that no one cared about on a small promotion.

I don't know about you but to me it is that serious. I take this sport very seriously.I'm just saying some boxing fans are super dramatic & extreme all the time about everything that happens. But that's just me, over the top? Maybe, I don't care though. I have been following this sport and only this sport and this sport has been my #1 passion for over 50 years. So yeah, it is that serious.
I don't see an upside to a UFC fighter bringing in a lot of money to the sport when the downside is a guy beating the undefeated best fighter of this era in his first professional or amateur boxing match.Comment

LOL damn you guys should write an epic War & Peace kinda novel with the drama you can drum up via a 40 year old, 2 years out of the sport guy getting beat.I'm not talking about stocks and money and bonds and I could care less what this does for MC's wallet. This is about the reputation of the sport of boxing. I see the upside of new blood in boxing that f#cks with the powers that be & some of you guys just see pain & misery ahead lol.Comment

Nate Diaz has no boxing experience either. Sparring a world champion doesn't equate to Boxing experience.
And Conor has less experience than that.Comment

Oh it is serious for the guys in the ring. Thats their life. Floyd is a punchline for a few decades at a minimum if he catches a L to Conor. But ultimately its just two guys fighting & finding out who's the best & they decide that not boxing or MMA or you or me or anyone else. And the win goes to no one except the guy who earned it in the ring off of his own skill & determination to get that win. If Conor earns the win fair play to him he's the better man on that day. Simple as that. No empires are falling. No ******* are being sacrificed. The moon won't turn red. It'll just be a W for Conor & a L for Floyd.
And in all that time haven't you seen great fighters lose before to guys you thought beneath them? Is this really going to be a first for you without worrying about the MMA angle to it that gets some of you guys' panties in a bunch? But that's just me, over the top? Maybe, I don't care though. I have been following this sport and only this sport and this sport has been my #1 passion for over 50 years. So yeah, it is that serious.
Can't you see the incredibleness of what Conor would have done if he CAN beat Floyd doe? I mean if Conor goes in there & with 0 pro fights beats Floyd doesn't that say he's a talent himself that deserves respect for his boxing ability?I don't see an upside to a UFC fighter bringing in a lot of money to the sport when the downside is a guy beating the undefeated best fighter of this era in his first professional or amateur boxing match.Comment
