How low was he supposed to drop in the rankings? He was the champion. He lost. He was moved down to #5. Seems pretty fair. Then Don King was smart and waited for others to lose and pursue other titles so Stiverne could work his way back up.
Had Fury & Glazkov not chosen other belts over the WBC, it could have taken Stiverne five years to get his rematch this way, but King played things well and Fury & Glazkov choosing the WBO & IBF sped up the process.
WBC did everything by the book. Not their fault Povetkin cheated twice.WBC was truly disgraceful in how they handled this situation, and if they had any decency at all, they would intervene and either work it out with Stivernes camp (ie throw some weight around and show this idiot whos boss), or put up the money for a decent purse.
Trying to show a fighter who is boss when the fighter is in the right is how you wind up bankrupt. WBC learned their lesson on that one.Comment

To be honest i cannot fault the WBC here, apart from the rankings, maybe Ortiz should have been ranked higher than those names?1 .- Alexander Povetkin (Russia) SILVER
2 .- Mike Perez (Cuba/Ireland)
3 .- Tyson Fury (GB) EBU/BBBC
4 .- Vyacheslav Glazkov (Ukraine)
5 .- Bermane Stiverne (Haiti/Canada)
Those are the rankings after Stiverne lost his mandatory defense against Wilder.
Povetkin & Perez fought in an eliminator and Povetkin won, becoming the mandatory.
Fury chose to become WBO mandatory and Glazkov chose to become IBF mandatory.
So Stiverne moved up the rankings as people lost or fought for other titles.
Ortiz was interim WBA world heavyweight champion at the time and ineligible to be ranked by the other organizations.
Stiverne (#2) agreed to fight Povetkin (#1) to become the mandatory. Povetkin cheated (again) and was removed from the rankings.
Which is how Stiverne became the mandatory.Comment

schedule another interim title fight when wilder was back and available?
no matter how you slice it, don king has a juicy lawsuit if stiverne is not named the mandatory.
and considering wilder won HIS ENTIRE PURSE in court due to povetkin cheating, there is a very good chance stiverne's lawsuit would have been successful.
surprise, surprise.....
imagine seeing you here, faithfully defending the WBC
who woulda thought ?
in answer to the question above.....
1) how about, fix their rankings..... ?
2) how about, explain to Bermane Stiverne that he needs to get off his fat ass and earn a title shot..... especially considering the utter spanking that he received at the hands of Wilder last time?
3) how about, realize that Wilder/Ortiz is better for boxing..... so order Stiverne to fight an eliminator against the next guy in line..... considering the fact that he hasn't done ****
did it really not occur to you to question why Stiverne is ranked ahead of Ortiz?Comment

Why not? The WBC made GGG the mandatory even though he was a champ from other organisations....Yeah i know he beat Rubio for it, so this shouldn't matter.Comment

he is lucky to be considered a top10 fighterComment

and yet, you did a great job..... TWICE
he should have been ranked higher than StiverneComment

what utter wank
* that is THEIR decision
* the result of THEIR decision is, they have second-rate rankings
1) they should be held accountable for their decisions
2) they should be held responsible for their rankings
what utter wank
insinuating that..... the WBC had no choice. because THEIR rules state blah blah..... is an irresponsible childish cop-out
on what planet are adult human beings not held responsible for THEIR own decisions/rules
the ONLY correct viewpoint is..... their rules are ****, and so are their rankings
you have an extremely childish viewpoint, rules doeComment
