otherwise, the champion would have nobody to fight if the top 15 was full of fighters unavailable or disinterested in fighting for the championship.

it doesn't make any sense for one league to rank the champion of another league when that champion isn't interested in pursuing another title as a challenger.

kid, I know exactly how boxing works

    1) I know that Stiverne should not be ranked ahead of Ortiz

    2) I know that adult human beings should be held responsible for THEIR own decisions

    3) I know that you said this.....

      ..... AND for boxing

but yea, the dumb kid does not understand that point

just like when he supported the IBF for stripping Fury

yay, Charles Martin vs..... whoever the fk that other guy was

he is all about the sanctioning bodies, fk the fighters and fk boxing lol

Why would Ortiz have been ranked in a league he wasn't fighting in and had no desire to fight in?

Nobody is arguing that Stiverne is the most exciting or anticipated potential opponent.

His promoter played it safe to ensure his return to #1.

Which means nobody is interested in seeing the fight.

And if you're not interested, don't watch.

Actually, if he fights Stiverne in September, he can still make the Ortiz fight for late novembe/december.
Yep,this pretty much the most intelligent post right here . It was blatently obvious that Wilder balked time since announcing his Stiverne fight in April. We are close to August now and im going to assume Wilder knows the Stiverne fight will take place .Thats 3 months and counting .However no way he makes 2 fights this year when no fight has been even announced yet .

Why would he not fight Stiverne already to jump to Ortiz? I'll believe it when i see it bc i think this is just more calling out nonsense (i hope im wrong )

Same reason he was ranked at No1 back in 2014 and given a rematch with Fat Chris for the WBC title, I guess.

Stiffern has literally done nothing his whole career but go life and death with other journeymen, and even got got KTFO by one of them .. but for some reason, ratings panels love him!

It's a spanner in the works, and a pain in the arse. And it would be great if Stiverne would take step a-side money.

I can't really blame Stiverne though. He doesn't deserve the fight/ranking and no one wants to see it, but you take all the opportunities you can, it's his career and he's going to do what suits him.

It's annoying but we all knew this fight was coming even before talk of a fight between Wilder and anyone else. Sulaiman and WBC posted up a fight poster back in February.

                      3 .- Tyson Fury (GB) EBU/BBBC
                      4 .- Vyacheslav Glazkov (Ukraine)
                      5 .- Bermane Stiverne (Haiti/Canada)

Those are the rankings after Stiverne lost his mandatory defense against Wilder.

Povetkin & Perez fought in an eliminator and Povetkin won, becoming the mandatory.

Fury chose to become WBO mandatory and Glazkov chose to become IBF mandatory.

So Stiverne moved up the rankings as people lost or fought for other titles.

Ortiz was interim WBA world heavyweight champion at the time and ineligible to be ranked by the other organizations.

Stiverne (#2) agreed to fight Povetkin (#1) to become the mandatory. Povetkin cheated (again) and was removed from the rankings.

Which is how Stiverne became the mandatory.
Ratings criteria include activity, and calibre of opponents. Stiverne did nothing during that period but labour to a points win over Deric Rossy. So how come they moved him up when others became ineligible, instead of promoting guys were more active against better class opponents?

Why Stiverne vs Povetkin as an eliminator? Neither of them deserved it.
