It's only tainting it if he keeps fighting at 147 against way bigger guys as he ages. If he moves down to 135, he could actually KO guys like Linares, Easter, possibly even Mikey Garcia or Vasyl Lomachenko, and enhance his legacy spectacularly before retiring. There's a chance he could literally beat every champion at 135 right now and retire undisputed champion of 135 at age 39 or 40, one of the greatest feats ever in boxing. Would that tarnish ****? I agree, think a catch-weight fight with Loma @ 135 would be the best way for Manny to say goodbye! It should be easy to make, and Loma wouldn't mind fighting in the Philippines for the right price! He fought Oscar at the full 154 limit having just moved up to 147 himself.
Pac fought a drained and older Oscar at 147.

Floyd fought Canelo, Roach and even you Pacboys here on nsb cried and said Canelo is too big when the fight was proposed.

Pac fought a drained Cotto at 145lbs, Floyd fought him at 154lbs.

Also Floyd weighed 150lbs against Canelo (2013) on fight night, 148lbs against Maidana (2014) on fight night, and 150lbs against Victor Ortiz (2011). Guess what? Pac has rehydrated to 150lbs in most of his welterweight fights. In fact, even at 140 he has a fight or two where he rehydrated to 150lbs.

This myth that Floyd is so much bigger than Pac has run it's course. Time to wake up to reality.

Your right about the height and reach though, floyd is 1.5/2 inches taller and has 3/4 inch reach advantage.

I don't think many would begrudge Pacquaio one more fight, a farewell one. He would have beaten Thurman, Spence and Crawford in his prime, probably, but now he should stay away from those guys. Hopefully he'll hang up the gloves in the not too distant future, or he'll end up in embrassing losses, like Leonar

We don't want to see that with Manny. Getting ko'd with one punch by an excellent to somewhat great fighter like Marquez is one thing. To get ko'd by some average welterweight would be quite a stain on the end of his career, should he continue too much longer.

One thing is for certain is that Pac's days at fighting at the elite level are over. I would hate to see him take a merciless beating against one of the top welters in the division, who are much younger, bigger, stronger and quicker to the point of him not being even competitive; For simply just a nice pay out.
