What are you talking about "careful management"
What is more careful than logging only 49 fights in an era where other greats are well over 100, some over 150 fights?
Careful indeed...Comment

And Mayweathers opponents weren't??
Pacquiao - 36
Cotto - 31
Mosley - 38
Marquez - 36
De la Hoya - 34
Baldomir - 35
Gatti - 33
Genaro - 32
Berto - 32
Maidana - 30 and 31
Guerrero - 30
Mitchell - 35
If Marciano fought in a weak era then you HAVE TO apply the same logic to Mayweather.Comment

LOL, people are pure trolls if they are saying Marciano's 49-0 is even close to Mayweather's. Compare Floyd's resume to Sugar Ray Leonard's and Sugar Ray Robinson's. Marciano doesn't have a top 10 resume, much less a top 5 one like Mayweather.Comment

he was in his 30's himself and past prime for everyone except Mitchell, Gatti and Baldomir
its clear that you literally have a distaste for the man because there is no way possible Marciano has a better resume or beat better fighters than floyd...regardless of titles or not....marciano fought a lot of people you guys would destroy floyd for fighting......30 plus fights in and fighting guys with less than 20 fights? sub .500 records? the critics would crucify floyd for thatComment

Your picking and choosing customs of an era that fit your argument. Classic cherry picking.
So because Marciano didn't fight every month he was carefully managed? Lmao I didn't think this thread could get any funnier!
For one he only fought for 7 years. That's 7x per year, more than every other month. How many fights has Mayweather had in the last 5 years?
Joe Louis only fought 69 times over a 17 year period. That's 4 times per year. Does that make him bad?
Do you even know what careful management is? Evidently not.Comment

the man who beat the man is one champion, lineal champion.....Mosley, Judah, Cotto, ODLH, Pacquaio, G. Hernanez, Castillo, Mosley, Hatton, Corrales, Baldomir, Marquez all won lineal titles and various major alphabet titles
Genaro hernandez held the wbc and wba and was undefeated at 130 until mayweather beat him in only his 18th pro fight
De La Hoya was lineal in 3 divisons and won major titles in 3 others
Mosley was lineal at 147 and won titles in 2 other divisions
corrales lineal at 135 and held wbo, wbc there and ibf at 130
no matter how you try to spin it...mayweather simply fought and beat better overall competition and accomplished more than him.
history lesson.....the NBA(National boxing association)....IBC(international Boxing Council).....NYSAC( NEW YORK STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSION)....were the alphabet boys of their time and titles were splintered even back then.
There was no IBC. It was NBA and NYSAC and they always recognized one guy as champion. If there were any discrepancies then they HAD to fight. Wilder and Joshua have been co champs for a year and there is still no fight. Golovkin has been co champ with Saunders for almost 2 years and there has been no fight.
Don't commit the logical fallacy of comparing to things that are not the same as if they were. NYSAC/NBA is NOT the same as WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO.Comment

That would be like Wlad never facing Fury or Joshua.
It is why he is never really in the discussion when we talk about the very best heavyweights.
But, you go on thinking whatever you like...Comment
