no, the result shouldn't be overtuned. weeks made a bad call. it happens and there's really no precedent as far as i can tell for a case specifically regarding low blows that were not called. it was a headshot that got him going, after all. but that headshot came only an exchange or two after a blatant, hard low blow. kovalev wasn't once given a full 5 minutes to recover.

weeks looked bad after that one. smells a bit fishy, but again, i'm not goign to go crazy because ward was starting to win the fight and i still think the better fighter won.
No it didn't. You need to look at it again.

he had been complaining for several rounds, man. i don't know how many more times you want the guy to have to motion to his ****. he's got to use his hands to box.

if points had been taken earlier ward would have stopped repeatedly flirting with the beltline and mixing in low blows. weeks ****ed up in the middle rounds. at the very least you need to look ward in the eye and let him know you're not going to let him play games and give him a firm warning. and FFS let kovalev recover if there are obvious, hard, or repeated low blows. he didn't once let him recover.

a guy can complain all he wants. dont make it legit. sometimes a ref will be out of view.

kov said it himself after the fight...

He said he thought Ward was hitting him below the belt but that he was OK.

i've looked at all fo the low blows from several angles. it's not a good look for a fighter when the focus of my replays are looking at shots to the ****. kovalev had a reasonable beltline and ward was on or below it all night. weeks did a poor job refereeing and it had an affect on the fight. kovalev was tiring, and more importantly ward had him figured out becuse he's just a better fighter, but that does not excuse the very obvious fouling by ward and the very poor refereeing by weeks. that the same f#cking people are lurking in the same threads defending a guy who they'd crucify if he was russian is no surprise.

FFS you guys are defending a guy for very obviously getting away with this, and the ref allowing him to do it

that is the end of the fight with a real, unbiased camera angle. ward was hitting him low!

what the **** does that even mean?

i can tell you hardly speak english, but are you trying to imply that kovalev's complains "weren't legit?" or that ward was not landing low blows?

the guy is literally on the ropes getting pounded below the belt and you guys are defending it.

the better man won, but he did not do it legally! get over it.

just because a guy ''complains'' doesnt mean he has cause.

the clip you provided showed kov so bent over, he could have cause the punch to go low.

want me to re-quote kov ?

How does bending low cause a punch to land even lower than it normally would?

                      deflection.
lack of visibility of the opponents body.

kovs head was at sog waist.

                      i need better pic/vids
