Actually yes, that was a three shot sequence, but the GIF only shows the last two. Even these two are clearly below the navel. But anyways back to that first shot that is cut out. At 1:48 of the 8th round, Ward throws a left low blow, followed by the 2 shots shown in that GIF.

I cannot vote for either option. The option that I would vote for is:

...and I rooted for Kovalev, because I like his boxing style, whereas I neither like Ward's personality nor his boxing style. But Ward won that one.
