Brook quit, but he is no quitter. He showed heart and fortitude. Hopefully he gets patched up and will come back next year.

Brook got the fight beaten out of him as his countryman Bellew acknowledged. Spence was just too good for him. Errol overwhelmed him. Spence not only broke his face, he also broke his will. Brook will never be the same again. Spence isn't just beating fighters, he's destroying them. Chris Algieri went from fighting men to cooking for other men. He made Brook drop to his knees, a habit Brook acquired with strange men outside of the ring. It manifested itself in this fight. What grows in the dark comes to the light.Comment

It is a sport at the end of the day and if he was fearful for his eyesight then you can understand why he didn't want to continue. But as harsh as this sounds, he quit in front of his home fans with 2 rounds to go.
It's a shame he's fought bums for most of his career. Khan is actually responsible for ruining both of Kells eyes because Kell wanted to get one up on Khan-canelo by fighting GGG and then prove Khan wrong again for not ducking Errol spence Jr his mandatory.
Unfortunately for Special Knee his career is now over, those eyes will never be the same again and when it gets tough again for him he'll do what he has done twice now and that's quit.Comment

Before he broke his orbital socket, I must admit that Kell Brook was displaying a tremendous heart and spirited effort as he was more than holding his own against Errol Spence, Jr. Had the injury not occurred he wouldn't have won but he would have probably gone the distance.
Kell Brook is no Andrew Golota or Victor Ortiz. Those two guys quit at the very first sign of adversity. They lay down without so much as being competitive or putting forth an effort to win. Both of Brooks losses came by way of two potentially career ending injuries.
In my book, that's a huge difference from being considered a quitter.Comment

Yup - there is a time to knuckle down, show heart, and fight (which he did), and there is a time to stop. In my mind he had already gone beyond the call of duty in the fight before the fight got stopped.
We commentate from our keyboards - the boxers get in the ring and put their lives on the line. If someone is in a position where permanent damage can happen (as he was) - take the knee and stop; else corner do their job and get the towel in, else ref call the doctor over to do his job.Comment

If he felt like there was a good chance of going blind like the doctor said after the GGG fight then he was right to take a knee, Spence did a good job of wearing him down with his body work and was coming on strong, Brook wasn't going to win, he would literally get nothing out of it.
I don't see why people think this takes credit away from Spence, the vast majority give him credit, you're always going to get a few idiots but you just ignore them. Like Hearn said in the press conference its to Spence's credit that he broke the eye socket, it came from wearing Brook down and coming on strong later in the fight, and he did it against a top quality fighter.
Fighting for 4 rounds with a broken eye socket takes heart, he could have stayed down in the 10th if he didn't want it, but he got up and gave Spence a few problems after that.Last edited by Spacey1991; 05-29-2017, 03:24 PM.Comment

I agree with you, but I guess I'm losing steam, I don't get so emotional. I had some guys toying with my face once and I out ran the whole town. Dogs and chickens included. It's hard getting your butt kicked knowing nobody is going to call 911.Too many punk mother****ers on here that have never been socked in the mouth before cause they always running from fights but yet they wanna call a real fighter a quitter.... **** all you punk ass cowards who are calling Brook a quitter. Only he knows what he was feeling, what he was seeing and couldn't see, and only he knows when his health and eyesight was at risk.
If he thought he could go blind then I have no problem with him taking a knee and calling it quits.
But he's no quitter. He's a warrior and **** all you lames who wanna talk bad about him. You cowards always run when it's time to fight so how the **** would you know what it's like to get socked in the face repeatedly?? Think about that before you call another man a quitter you ****ing lames!Comment

Disagree with title
I totally disagree with current title. It should be (Brook Quit Vs. Spence Because He Was annoyed by Body shots and mental breakdown). The worst beating is one boxer breaks your well and spirit before punishing your body. That's what Errol did against Brook. Do not be bitter losers. Just admit the Best man won.Comment
