The difference is that when he had surgery his doctor told him that if he had continued fighting then he would of probably lost his eyesight for good. That's always gonna be in the back of his mind. He was lucky his corner stopped the first fight even tho he wanted to continue.. If the corner hadn't and had he continued fighting then you never know what would of happened with his eyesight. So he was being cautious and took a knee. Nothing wrong with that.

Exactly! It's way different than Walters and punk ass Dirrell.EXACTLY!!! And this is NOT the same type of I "Quit" Walters. OR Andre "I STAY Down" Dirrell.
You stop the fight for busted eye or even a broken nose I don't have a problem with it. The nose is the tricky one because with a mouth guard in you can't breath. Once you nose is shot and it get's reset...You maybe have a round or 2 left.
But too many dumb ****s on here think they know it all even tho they too scared to fight.
I have no problem with Brooks taking a knee and stopping the fight.
Only an idiot would risk their eyesight.Comment

Film doesn't lie. While the bull**** commentators on Sky were talking nonsense about who was winning, Spence was consistently throwing shots to the body. By mid way through the sixth round Kell was done physically. All his snap was gone and he was leaning on those body shots.I totally disagree with current title. It should be (Brook Quit Vs. Spence Because He Was annoyed by Body shots and mental breakdown). The worst beating is one boxer breaks your well and spirit before punishing your body. That's what Errol did against Brook. Do not be bitter losers. Just admit the Best man won.
I had the fight 3 - 3 after that round with Spence winning everything after that. It was competitive up to that point, but it wasn't as close upon reflection as the telecast tried to portray.Last edited by Butch.McRae; 05-29-2017, 05:11 PM.Comment

Exactly! I'll agree with you on this one. People say Margarito is a warrior but look at that fool now with his messed up eye. I wouldn't be surprised if it effects his eyesight later on in life. Hope I'm wrong tho..
But I have no problem with Brooks taking a knee and stopping the fight. Like Shadow said, this wasn't quitting like Walters and punk ass Dirrell. If he says he couldn't see then he did right by taking a knee. Only an idiot would risk their eyesight and keep fighting.Comment

I was writing a live commentary for a guy who didn't have access to the fight. Here was what I wrote at the time by round (missed the first round). When I said 'first clean round to Spence' in the 8th I meant the first round where noone could question who won the round, NOT first round to Spence. I wasn't scoring at the time, but probably had it 3-3 after 6, then giving Spence the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th, so aligned with the boxingscene live scorecard except boxingscene gave the 7th to Brook, but I felt Spence landed the cleaner shots in that round. But main point being the 10th where I felt Brook was being a true warrior. Feeling still stands.
round 2) spence hasn't got his distance yet and doesn't seem sure what approach to use. Brook seems to be keeping it simpler and having better control.
round 3) spence came out more aggressive and landed some nice shots, but then backed off a bit and brook came back well - a bit scrappy though, no clear advanatage either way at the mo
4) scrappy as hell, brook leading and falling in and tying up, both throwing and missing with few clean connects. still no advantage either way
5) spence doesn't seem to know what to do, still scrappy as hell, close rounds, andeasy to score for either, but spence won't get a decision if it carries on like this - justafiably so that is
6) fight broke out, still sloppy, brook just looks to be getting the edge
7) brook seems to slowing and looking more ponderous...needs a second wind, spence got some clean shots in that roundand looks on the up...
8) brook looking horrible now, first clean round to spence, brook defence gone, still throwing but open to clean shots if spence can land them...
9) massive round for spence, brook is a dead man walking, just heart and instinct left - if spence can't put him down now, wouldn't be surprised
10) another MASSIVE round for spence, puts brook down, brook fights back like a true warrior, jeez props to brook, but he's doneComment

agreed. many fighters took worse beatings than that and they still fought on for 12 rounds. brook just in this sport for the money at this point. we heard him slip up on the post fight interview he fights for money. not for the sport. not for legacy. not the fans. he is a ****ing sell out. khan is his last pay out. im rooting for khan if they do fightComment
