can i just say, the only people who shud realy be responding to the original question are the people who have bin hit in da liver!

i have in sparing and i have never bin hurt as bad! i was down, cudnt breath, gasping for air and it hurt! i sumhow managed to get up (cos my caoch told me to as it wud help me), but guess how long i stayed up for.... a split second before i dropped again lol! no joke.

and i just saw the fight y2day, and the punch was perfect.

and another point, how can any1 say a fighter like DLH wud take a dive, hes fought every1 n any1! and hes got alot of pride!

    safe

I have never been slapped in my liver, & flopped on the floor, writhing in pain.
I have seen glancing blows to fighters' temples cause them to stagger & drop.....but liver shots aren't the same. There has to be some heft on the punch, & from the looks of things...it was a weak punch.

Oscar's reaction was ridiculous, & unrealistic.

It's a liver shot, not exactly a winded-type shot. It doesn't wind you, so much as paralyze you and hurt like appendicitis on crack *******.

It's the same punch that landed on Nagy
        .
        Barrios V Nagy

If you watch the two one after another, their not dissimilar.

I trust oscar on this one.

I'M NOT AN OSCAR HATER BUT NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT THAT BODY PUNCH FROM BERNARD , IT WAS SO OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT OSCAR STAYED DOWN TO AVOID FURTHER PUNISHMENT. FURTHERMORE , I BELIEVE THAT BOB ARUM IS ALSO ACCUSING HIM OF TAKING A DIVE...THIS I GUESS HAS TO DO WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OSCAR AND BOB NOW TURNED SOUR.

WATHCING THE FIGHT AGAIN ON VHS , YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY SEE THAT THE PUNCH BARELY LANDED. IT'S TOO BAD BECAUSE THIS WAS THE FIGHT I WAS HOPING TO SEE OSCAR TAKE A REAL BEATING.
sorry DLH fans but I would have to say im not sure the body shot hurt him....Hopkins wore him down and he looked for the easy road out of the ring..Liver shots hurt but damn man...i just dont know

You ever been hit with a solid left hook to the liver when you weren't expecting it?

He did not take a dive he stook a shot in the liver from a true MW.Oscar went too far up in weight period. He did not even look strong against Sturm who is feather fisted for that division.

There it is! Y'all want the truth?

Rasaed just laid it out for you. Oscar started off at 130...that's 30Lbs below Bernard's house. Nuff said.

Imagine looking at a guy in the eyes, thinking about your next move, and before you can execute you feel a knife go into your side...and stay there, causing you so much pain you can't move.

Bob Fitzsimmons won the World Heavyweight Championship from James J. Corbett with a similar shot. Corbett got up to his knees...one knee, to be precise...and you can see him trying to get up and he can't leave the kneeling posistion.

A knock-out to the head renders a guy dizzy or disoriented or just plain out cold. A kayo from a body shot paralyzes an opponent with pain.

The only two power blows to the body Ive ever seen that actually looked like they hurt was Roy vs V. Hill & the undercard fight to Barrera Vs Rocky...thats about it...i can only imagine how it must feel playa...sharp pain you say...damn!!
