  • Did Delahoya Take A Dive Against Hopkins ?

I KNOW THIS WAS LIKE 2 YEARS AGO BUT I'M NEW ON THIS SITE AND WANT TO GET OTHERS OPINION ON THIS.

I'M NOT AN OSCAR HATER BUT NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT THAT BODY PUNCH FROM BERNARD , IT WAS SO OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT OSCAR STAYED DOWN TO AVOID FURTHER PUNISHMENT. FURTHERMORE , I BELIEVE THAT BOB ARUM IS ALSO ACCUSING HIM OF TAKING A DIVE...THIS I GUESS HAS TO DO WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OSCAR AND BOB NOW TURNED SOUR.

WATHCING THE FIGHT AGAIN ON VHS , YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY SEE THAT THE PUNCH BARELY LANDED. IT'S TOO BAD BECAUSE THIS WAS THE FIGHT I WAS HOPING TO SEE OSCAR TAKE A REAL BEATING.

It was a liver shot. From what I hear, the pain is way too intense to continue within 10 seconds. It got right underneath the right side of Oscars body(rib)where the liver is.

he wasnt taking a beating! lol he wasnt even that far behind on the scorecards, Oscar is one of the only fighters that u can say is a TRUE warrior, he didnt take a dive in the mosley fight, or the sturm fight, and have u ever been hit in that same spot where he was, it hurts more than getting hit right in the mid section, or the face, it takes ur breath away man it hurts like hell, yeah it prolly dont look like it hurts, but ive been hit there and it is painful

There is no way in my eyes that punch landed hard enough on the liver to put him down and out. He could have gotten up. The punch look like it landed more on his side or back than the liver. Just my opinion though.

              Listen up, this is interesting.

I don't know, but from what I heard from a guy who was instrumental in the setup of this fight and has alot of credibility in the sport., there was alot of shadiness behind this fight. He intimated to me that there was kick back money that Bob Arum paid to a major boxing medium to hype this fight up and provoke public interest in the fight. He also mentioned one other fight, but the case I have created is not nearly as strong as it is on this one. My source didn't tell me that the fight was thrown, but I do have my doubts.

While DLH did get hit on a very sensitive part of the body, when you are aired out you don't react like he did. I have been hit with some violent body shots in my life and the LAST thing you are able to do is yell and scream in pain. In my whole life watching boxing in the gym and on tv, I have never seen a fighter react like De La Hoya did after that left hook to the body that Hopkins' ended the bout with.

I have serious doubts as to the integrity of this bout.

Glad to see someone else agree. He was pounding the canvas like he had been shot ...writhering in pain. After about 5 minutes he is fine talking to Larry Merchant ??? wuts up with dat ?
