I'M NOT AN OSCAR HATER BUT NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT THAT BODY PUNCH FROM BERNARD , IT WAS SO OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT OSCAR STAYED DOWN TO AVOID FURTHER PUNISHMENT. FURTHERMORE , I BELIEVE THAT BOB ARUM IS ALSO ACCUSING HIM OF TAKING A DIVE...THIS I GUESS HAS TO DO WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OSCAR AND BOB NOW TURNED SOUR.

WATHCING THE FIGHT AGAIN ON VHS , YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY SEE THAT THE PUNCH BARELY LANDED. IT'S TOO BAD BECAUSE THIS WAS THE FIGHT I WAS HOPING TO SEE OSCAR TAKE A REAL BEATING.
**** that he took a dive! there is no way he would tarnish his career for another fighter, he lost fair and square. I dont know if you have ever been hit there hard or not you friggan feel that ****, it's some of the most excruciating pain I have ever felt for that long 30 seconds. Oscar didnt take a dive dont listen to anyone he got hit from a devestating liver shot end of story

From what I viewed the punch wasn't a perfectly placed liver punch to begin with. It looked like it landed more on his side and back area. I also think that the reason why we as viewers watching the fight were lead to believe that DLH was holding his own was because Hopkins was carrying him up until that fateful round. I cant remember the round but I think it was the 8th or 9th. Just my opinion though.

I just wanted to hear others opinion. This was clearly a dive. If you thought Oscar was competitive in this fight you were fooled. Why do you think Oscar chose Mayorga in his comeback fight ?

Okay..look. On this "carrying" stuff.....when was the last time B-Hopp came out strong and didn't lay back for the first few rounds? That's his M.O. If he "carried" De La Hoya, he carried Jermain Taylor both times, he carried Carl what's his name, he carried every opponent in the last 3 to 4 years. B-Hopp is a slow starter because he's an old fart and has to conserve his energy for the second half of the fight. No more, no less, IMO.

You dont carry an opponent when you lose ? Jermain Taylor ?
              THere is a big differnece.

You only carry an opponent when you know your gonna have the fight won.

Did you happen to see the size difference between DLH and BHOP , it was like boy agains man.

What I'm saying is B-Hopp looked no different in the early going against DLH than he did against ANY opponent he's faced since Tito.

you clearly have something against DLH because anyone who watched the fight knows it wasnt a dive and DLH wouldnt do that. He chose Mayorga for the simple fact it would make money and because it was widely seen by his people especially the mexican/hispanic and so on. It was a huge money maker against an opponent that was thought to be very serious but it proved not to be in this case. DLH never once threw a fight and highly doubt he would do it against the Unified champ at the time when it would have made his name even bigger. And sure the judges scored a victory to Taylor but he lost the first fight and the second should have been a draw he didnt once do what it took to dethrown the champion. B-hop just waited too long to make his move in the Taylor fight like he has the past 5 years against other opponents. If he started one round earlier the champ would still be the champ.

I'm no Oscar fan but I give him the benefit of the doubt based on his caliber of competition he faced and some of the great fight's he's been in. I find it hard to believe that he would take a dive, I guess anything could happen but IMO I don't think he took a dive.

Oscar deserved an Oscar for the way he reacted to that arm punch. ****, you didn't see Gianluca Branco roll around and cry when Cotto hit his arm for 8 WHOLE ROUNDS.
