not one mention of that super-****ty WBA regular title
the following, is gold.....
"You want to save boxing and bring it back to some semblance of public consciousness, have your champions -- like Triple-G, in this case -- stop this "I need all the belts" nonsense. It's an easy path to easy fights, rather than forcing him to pursue greatness with another Jacobs fight, or by moving up."
aboutfkntime someone called out GGG on his bullshht
this journalist retained his honesty and integrity, how about some of you other hacks do the same
No one wants to see Jacobs fighting any one on PPV as good as Jake is there is little excitement over another colored boxer,
Two white guys boxing is what the fans want. Jake is correct that boxing fans want to see GGG vs Canelo in a super bout. Coloreds generate little fan interest and usually are boring and dull. White fighters create excitement and white fans spend all the money along with what the mex's have. That is the truth and not to hurt or insult anyone like Jacobs who is a nice colored kid. White boxers create excitement and have the fans coming in droves spending money. Canelo-GGG-Wlad-Fury-Froch-Lomo-Kovalev-
Jacobs is not a PPV boxer period. Charlo beats GGG and Canelo.
I'm sure Jacobs has fans but he hasnt really fought anybody which sucks because he is a good fighter and he should test himself more.
1. Its just a damned fun fight.
2. Who else is there that he can fight that is not above him in the pecking order. He's currently the 2nd best fighter at 160 but the fight with GGG is so close that it really is just them two at the top and then everyone else. So if he's not facing GGG next he can only fight guys below him. There are much less credible options out there for Jacobs than Lemieux.
3. It would certainly be a better option than sitting around and waiting for the GGG rematch.
4. It helps keep him in the public eye. He keeps winning and he'll keep having the chance to call GGG out in public. The public will want the rematch more and more. It makes the fight bigger.
I guarantee you that if everything falls the way it should we'll see GGG/Jacobs 2 by this time next year at the latest. If BJS and/or Canelo bail on GGG we'll see it even sooner. Outside of those two guys there is no other big fight available for GGG between 154 and 168.
Honestly, if I were Jacobs, I'd push for an immediate rematch. Because Saunders has been yapping since forever about fighting GGG, and never does. The Canelo fight probably isn't happening either. Anything even remotely resembling a competitive fight with Jr, and they're gonna rematch. Cotto has also been chirping about a Canelo rematch. And if you haven't noticed, GBP has kinda drawn a line in the sand in terms of negotiations with GGG. And unfortunately for Gennady, Canelo-Jr is gonna destroy GGG-Jacobs. So he really has no leg to stand on.
Like I was saying. If I were Jacobs. I'd push for an immediate rematch. And if he doesn't get it, I'd move up. If he were to lose at 168, it doesn't hurt his stock at 160. And if he could move up there and win a belt. GGG is eventually gonna be forced to move up. If Jacobs is sitting there with a belt at 168, there's gonna be public demand for GGG to do the rematch as opposed to fighting any of the other beltholders. If Jacobs loses a fight at 160 before getting a GGG rematch. It pretty much eliminates all hope of ever getting a rematch.
More biased crap by the author trying his best not to look biased. Nothing criminal about a champion fighting three times per year, wanting to unify the belts, and seeking out the lineal champ for a big payday.
Here's a thought, let Danny Jacobs fight Charlo next. Charlo is the same height, will come in just as heavy, and is equal in terms of skill and ability. If he's not careful, maybe next time GGG demands a rehydration clause and force you to come into the ring at 170 or less.
I don't think it was a robbery even though I had Jacobs winning 7-5. Was a very close fight.
I am looking forward to seeing what the ggg fans say if he doesn't rematch Jacobs next.
Historically, they are very critical of boxers that don't rematch close fights immediately. The very worst ggg fans label this ducking the rematch.
Let's see if they are consistent or change. If they change, I think we should discuss why.
He isnt going to rematch Jacobs next, for a multitude of reasons:
1. He wants to fight in June in Kazakhstan, and there is no way they would ever be able to make a deal with Jacobs on that timeline, if Jacobs would even agree to go overseas
2. Next month I think GGG will have an IBF mando due. His only choice for his next fight (if he wants to keep all the belts) is the unification with Saunders, or an IBF mando.
3. The haters here are already predicting "89k" ppv buys or whatever, so where exactly do they think the money would come from to pay Jacobs for a rematch? Which in itself is funny because on one hand they say nobody watched or cares about GGG and he is the BBB side, but on the other hand they claim there is this huge groundswell of demand (from who exactly?) for a rematch lol
If I were in charge of GGGs career, I would go for the unification with Saunders in June, and then go for Canelo in Sept. After that, it would be next to impossible to keep the belts together, so that would be the time to either do the Jacobs rematch, fight Eubanks, or move up to 168.
Bottom line is no matter what he does, the haters will whine.
If he fights Saunders for the unification, they will say he is ducking Jacobs and Canelo
If he waits till Sept and fights Canelo, they will say he is ducking Jacobs.
If he rematched Jacobs, they will say he is ducking Canelo
Canelo and Golovkin were on collision course because Canelo was the WBC belt holder and Golovkin wanted to fight for that title.
Canelo gave up his belt to avoid having to fight GGG. That fact alone proves the fallacy of what you are saying there.
.
Canelo and GGG are on a collision course because they're the two biggest names in that 154-160 weight range. The belt has nothing to do with it.
Canelo's belt became a complete joke the minute Miguel Cotto, who had never fought as a middleweight was given a shot at a shot Martinez because of politics. The belt became a further joke when Cotto, nor the guy that beat him for it, never defended the belt at the 160. That belt in essence became a quasi jr middleweight title. And the only reason GGG and his fans were harping on it was because it appeared to be an easy big named scalp for Gennady.
Floyd didn't really care about belts. But I'm glad you brought him up. Floyd took a lot of flack for his opponent selection, particularly as a welterweight. But if you look at his welterweight and jr middleweight resume. Pretty much everyone he fought was either a reigning beltholdrr or mandatory. And he had several unification fights. So if GGG's belt quest is such a great thing. Why was Floyd criticized for basically doing the same thing?
Maybe the problem isn't with the color but the fact that African Americans aren't supporting their own people. Mexican's support Mexican fighters. Puerto Ricans support Puerto Rican fighters. Irish and British fight fans will fly across oceans to support their guys. Outside of Floyd Mayweather Jr which African American fighters get a lot of support from their own people. And lets face it, they are supporting him because he's already at the top. They weren't there as he was making his way up.
As for the popularity of GGG and Kovalev. These "white guys" were destroying mofos. That's why they are popular. People who always go for the knock out and get them are always going to be popular.
Black fighters are the norm in boxing and are boring usually and not PPV stars. Jacobs is a great kid and good boxer but not a PPV type of draw. White fans want decent human beings boxing who they can pay for. same with the Mex's who support their fellow amigos. Ward draws nothing. Broner can't sell in his home town that hates Broner. Jacobs in vegas sells little. Thurman sells little. Porter is a midget. Garcia gets ignored. Charlo turns fans off with his obnoxious foul behavior.
