    Lemieux isnt allowed appeciation

He's a Golovkin opponent. Any sort of appreciation would mean indirectly praising Golovkin, and directly admitting the middleweight division isn't as terrible as people make out.

The anti-Golovkin/HBO consensus of certain posters will be here in full force

Lemieux lost a MD to him 6 years ago at 22 years old. He's come a long way since then.

What do you think of Rustico Torrecampo?

Seriously....the division is pretty weak. Anyone who knows boxing knows this.

Its not a weak division, its an ok division. Definitely a step behind light heavy, super feather and cruiserweight.

Honestly, how are people rating welterweight over it? People aren't thinking critically about it, that's why.

Thurman, Brook and cashing out Pacquiao, with lower tier Spence, Porter and Garcia. Bradley/Marquez are all but retired. Noone else of relevance. The only reason this division gets hyped up is because of name value...

Golovkin, Canelo, Jacobs, with lower tier Lemieux, Saunders, Eubank, Lee, Jermall Charlo and N'Jikam.

The middleweight division is just as strong, if not stronger than welterweight. The only caveat here is ATG Pacquiao, but he's cashing out. If you disagree, i'd like to see your arguments that don't rely on name value.

Ah the good old 'anyone who knows boxing would agree with me' stunt

I don't expect many good debates on here, but that is genuinely pathetic.

You're basically saying 'I haven't challenged my own perception properly'

Lemieux is certainly under appreciated as a fighter, and I'm sick of reading about how he lost to Rubio and Alcine as a 22 yo. We all know the reason why a certain group of fans won't let that drop.

But him not showing up for the fight day weigh in against Stevens and claiming not to know anything about it was neither transparant nor honest.

From the replies in this thread it seems like Lemieux ***ed your girl. Wtf.

I get GGG fans over hyping his past opponents but you guys are doing the exact opposite. Calling fighters trash just because GGG beat them. Stevens is not a top MW but it was a nice knockout.

David Lemieux is an exciting powerful entertaining fighter, there's no denying this. Win, lose or draw he is never in a dull fight. I won't enter the debate as to where he should be placed in the middleweight division but the mere fact a lot of other middleweights avoid him say a lot. At least he steps up to the challenges in the division unlike posers like Canelo who rely more on cherry picked opponents and his mexican heritage to sell tickets. I'd love to see Lemieux fight Canelo but that's not going to happen until his skills degrade significantly. His fight with Stevens was entertaining and exciting and a good win for him. Hope to see a lot more of him in the future

I've always had him down as a decent and underrated fighter.
