True statement! Fight or retire. I think what makes certain folks so angry is that Ward seems totally comfortable with the retirement option. That...that will hurt Ward haters and Kovalev fans the most.

If Ward retires without fighting the rematch with Kovalev, he can kiss good-bye to any positive legacy what-so-ever.

People have a right to be pissed off at those tweets.... especially if you thought Kovalev won.

I just hope the rematch happens soon enough, I don't know what Ward had to endure in negotiations for the build up of the first fight but I don't think it's worth him being purposely difficult for the rematch negotiations. The fact is he didn't clearly win, Kovalev could have just as easily got the nod. This sort of posturing doesn't make sense when the vast majority thought you lost.

Ward is one of my favourites and I thought he won (barely) but when he acts this way you can easily see why he would garner hate.

Look mr ward ...kovalev didnt have to give you a shot at the title....you got the purse you wanted for the first fight and you was given a shot at kovalevs title , you signed the fight and you agreed to the remtach clause , you won the fight and now you have the belts.
It was a close fight and alot of people felt you were lucky to get the victory , now do the decent and be a man of your word and signature and just give kovalev the chance to make it 1-1.....any ward fan who don't agree with what i have just wrote ....you don't have a fighting code and you lack morals...simple

Ward is a man of integrity, and a student of the sport, so insinuating anything to the contrary OBVIOUSLY indicates an alternative agenda

where folks - maybe you, not sure - went wrong..... is ASSUMING that Ward was not a man of integrity, and that the rematch was in doubt
