I don't recall ever seeing a fighter this bitter in victory.

And I can't recall seeing an audience so bitter in defeat, lol.

Kovalev lost a close fight, but to hear folks on here and elsewhere try to tell it, Kovalev had Ward whooped, 10 rounds to 2, and got shafted with an utterly criminal decision.

Wht is it so difficult for folks to acknowledge reality?

I'm confused by this control thing. Ward made five times the money Kovalev did in the fight. If that is control this sport has gone crazy.

Everyone knows rematches are controlled by the winner of the first fight. Meaning, the loser can balk all he/she wants and the winner will still be the one calling the shots. The biggest question is do you want the rematch or not? If not, then say so ASAP so people can move on. You are in full control Andre fact that they're waiting for your decision. What are you even talking about?

Ward got his check; Kovalev got his check, a share off of the Russia TV, and a share on the upside on the entire event. It was a Main Events show, where Ward and his camp got paid well to sit, shut up, and dance to Duva's music.

That is not the case with the rematch, and Ward has worked to let that be known loud and clear.

HBO is going to carry the fight (Kovalev's TV situation would have things no different), but the rest of the terms will be led by Roc Naton Sports and Andre Ward.

RNS picks the venue (likely keeping to the No Russia, no Oakland clause in the initial deal), RNS shops the TV rights internationally (will likely end up selling the Russia rights to Main Events to shop), RNS finalizes the sponsors, RNS sets who gets the media credentials, and RNS runs the show and fight week the way they see fit.

I wonder how understanding the Kool Mo Dee Smoove Talib Bruva Slicks on this site would be if Kovalev won by a **** hair and was being iffy about the rematch.

Ward is acting like a little jerkoff but in a way its good because Kovalev will go apeshit in the ring if the rematch happens. And I don't think Ward has the power to hurt Kovalev either so in my opinion, Kovalev should go for the knockout.

HBO would still continue to act as if Adonis Stevenson doesn't exist, and HBO would be lining up Gvozdyk, Joe Smith Jr, Seanie Monaghan, and whatever other 175lbers on their side as the only light heavyweights even worth mentioning.

What I really don't get is when boxing fans take sides and **** ride through thick and thin. Ward is clearly the one in the wrong, as fans shouldn't we all want to see the best fights possible? what exactly do fans gain from fighters like ward clowning around? no wonder nobody likes him.

What that have to do with anything? If you guys are okay with ggg using his negotiating advantages then you should be okay with Ward doing it as well. There was none of that "hurry up and make the fight" nonsense when ggg is in the driver seat, but Ward somehow should just be agreeable. You guys seem to only take that stance with black fighters for some reason

The rematch clause simply entitles Kovalev to having the immediate next crack at Andre Ward. It says nothing aout the TV, what venue they'll be fighting at, what international TV partners will get the fight, what sponsors will be apart of the fight, which press folks will get media credentialed, and even, the most important term of them all, the actual ****ing date of the fight.

Andre Ward and his camp, from the moment that the rematch clause was even triggered by Kovalev, have made it clear that they will be the parties dictating terms this time, with Kathy Duva and Sergey Kovalev simply left to hurrying up and sitting.

After everyone took time off for the holidays, Roc Nation Sports is starting to get the business going again; penciled in the HBO date, put a hold down on the venue, and work through the rest of the logistics on their side.

The moment the deal gets done, Main Events will get a call, Kovalev will get a purse for the fight, and Roc nation will run the event the way that they see fit.

Start demading the fight Ward groupies enough of this. You know your boy got a gift decision and now it's ok to stall the rematch this is boxing. Ward getting his ass whooped next fight thats why he's pulling diva games. This is boxing not dancing with the stars ffs.
