Look on the bright side. Washington is undefeated, in shape, and will bring an angle that Wilder struggled with against Szpilka (movement and boxing). Let's see how Wilder deals with it.

I for one am not angry that Wilder chooses to avoid boxers with a history of PEDs like Povetkin and Ortiz. If I was clean, I'd avoid them too.
Washington is a lot better than the original guy who there was absolutely no excuse for.

This imo was always the right fight for his comeback.

I mean, the PED thing with Ortiz is no excuse. That would rule out a whole lot of the heavyweight division.

I of course understand why he would never want to sign against Povetkin again.

Ortiz needs a fight to really put himself on the map to make a Jsohua fight even bigger, why not versus Wilder target Whyte for his lofty WBC ranking, Hearn could pay him out and forfeit him, Whyte I don't see troubling Stiverne nor Wilder, Ortiz versus Stiverne then the winner versus Wilder wouod be something Ortiz being mandated may force Wilder's hand into unifying.
Not a bad plan. I see it playing out as Joshua/Ortiz then wilder/parker then Joshua/Wilder (assuming both win)-in either England or MSG.

Then the winner gets Fury for a huge money fight.

The original choice was an exceptionally poor one no way I would have watched that one, this one intrigues me Washington is something of an unknown package, fit, motivated, been in camp. What's to dislike after Wilder has not fought in six full months ?
You must be really critical of GGG's opposition.

He had a chance to fight Mora on HBO but chose Adama off TV

He picked Monroe Jr from a list of 3 including Torreano Johnson and Sebastian Heiland.

GGG chose the guy with 6 KO's

He is criticizing the choice of replacement, which is similar to posters that criticize GGG for his replacement choices when he is avoided.

Wilder actually made a bad situation less bad.
Dude I can read his agenda like a transparent book, he's absolutely desperate for Brook to avoid Spence as he knows he will lose and GGG's resume will look even poorer than it is.

I do personally rate GGG for tbs record but feel he is a wasted talent at 160, frustrates me knowing he could clear the decks at 168 as he has 160 yet continues to languish at middle facing the like Wade, Heiland and Tureano plus Saunders whom you know he will be facing whilst waiting on a fight to cash out with against Canelo who no longer holds any belt he claims he was determined to face him for.

              that's a good one!

I'm thinking Wilder vs Mansour would've been a better bout for PBC, and possibly a bout ending like Spzilka. Mansour would come forward (for the judges) all night, but would be stopped when Deontay uses his jab and cross. BUT, a fight with Washington NOW IMO is very risky for Deontay's hand.

Now with Washington, he's more counter inclined, and would most likely box Deontay and figure out range as he normally does. Both are hella tall. I don'T see Deontay being TOO active and it benefits a less risk using his hand with total punches. I could be totally wrong, it's all up to Deontay's confidence and how brittle his hand is now... Washington is a big ass dude. Deontay needs to avoid using his right hand to the body come fight night imo.

Vitally had 47 fights and nearly all were against the same caliber fighter Washington is. And Wilder is coming off an injury to boot.

I think that's the most likely path going forward. I expect Wilder to push for a Parker (or Hughie Fury) fight hard after their next fights so that he can hit the Joshua unification (which I expect to be at MSG or MGM Grand Garden) for all the belts..

Fury may make a comeback, but it will be a disappointment I'm afraid. He's going to be out for so long, the division will pass him by..
