What you talking about he's listed as one the top prospects by ESPN and literally every other media outlet. Has a great amateur background and has been amazing since he turned pro. He has elite level hand speed and great boxing skills. People hating him because his last name and think he didn't earn his spot. Kid is for real tho he is moving up faster then other older prospects because he is that good beating the same opponents without losing a single round that older prospects and vets are struggling with. He doesn't have Oscars power and size to win titles is 5 weight classes so comparing him to Oscar is unfair he's first ballot HOF for a reason. But he has something that translates to the pro game and that's hand speed. He's got a great shot at being a world champ is his own right.

[QUOTE=kidaguilar;17367236]don't watch the fight then. Boxing will not stop because you disagree with certain matchups. The fight has the hype behind it to sell over 90,000 tickets if in Dallas and sell over 1 million in PPV buys, what doesn't make sense to you. You want Canelo to fight Billy Saunders or Lemiuex? Canelo will fight GGG in September .He's a prize fighter and he's stacking up money like he should be doing. Do I agree with the fight? not really but im curious to see what it can be if Chavez comes in motivated. This fight is a business move with entertainment value.[/QUOTE 1 mil in ppvs? Pretty lofty expectations. It won't come anywhere near that. When have 2 mexicans ever sold 1 mil on ppv? Even the most popular Mexican vs most popular Mexican American Chavez vs delaHoya didn't come anywhere near a mil. Cotto is more of a draw than Chavez Jr has ever been and he and Canelo drew 900k. Also when you consider Chavez hasn't done anything relevant in over 5 yrs and quit on his stool a couple of fights back, I can't see there being 1 million gullible fools willing to buy into this.Comment

Canelo was given the dates, he didn't take them. As far as bums, mayweather took those dates over around the Hatton fight and every fighter he fought since then with the exception of his last fight vs berto was a world champion at the time of the fight and in most cases was coming off an impressive win. Canelo on the other hand has now had 3 of these Mexican dates and of the 3, only 1 held a world title at the time. Beefy Smith was a world champ but without a doubt considered the least regarded champion at 154 of any of the belt holders. Khan and Chavez Jr on the other hand hadn't held any world title since 2012. Canelo is shi**ing the bed plain and simple.Comment

Oscar vs Vargas drew 935k PPVs. And Oscar vs Chavez was fought at a time when PPV wasn't as common. If Oscar vs Chavez 2 was fought 5 years later after the Boxing PPV boom of the 2000's it easily does more then 935k PPVs. Canelo vs Cotto drew 900k buys and you say Cotto is a much bigger draw then Chavez Jr yet both fought Sergio but Chavez Jr drew significantly higher PPVs then Cotto did. Before Chavez jumped ship to Showtime even post Sergio fight he was the biggest draw on premium cable last fight against a bum Vera drew 1.4m viewers on HBO. He's returning back to HBO where his brand was built and facing the biggest draw in boxing in a flat out blood fuel grudge match. The fight will sell probably not 1m but close.
You just upset because GGG ain't seeing the money these two are or the PPV buys. GGG and Jacobs combined are making less then Chavez will.Last edited by bigdunny1; 01-20-2017, 08:31 AM.Comment

When Canelo signed his HBO deal he demanded those dates. Wether Floyd fought on them or not. Either way, he was gonna get them. So he took them, they gave them to him, all the same to me. He fights on those days. Khan and Chavez Jr. Sell. Period. Smith had the wbo strap, you know the sanctioning body that make you mando for the belt if you move up in weight, the one ggg does not have??? Canelo and gbp know what they're doing, but I guess you can't see that.Canelo was given the dates, he didn't take them. 1. Oscar and vargas aren't an example of 2 mexicans who drew 1 mil. They're 2 American Olympians who are bilingual who drew close to 1 mil. Big difference from 2 mexicans from Mexico who don't speak English. They don't have the same cross over appeal. 2. Not sure what you're talking about regarding Oscar vs Chavez 2 not being during a ppv time ,tyson was already selling millions in ppv we'll before then. 3. It's a fact that cotto has been a bigger draw than Chavez Jr. Cotto is the highest selling ppv fighter of the recent era behind Floyd and pac. As far as their numbers vs martinez, it's completely different scenarios. Chavez vs Martinez was when Chavez Jr was undefeated and Sergio was an active mw champion. When cotto fought Martinez he was only 1 fight removed from back to back loses and Martinez was coming off a yr layoff and injury. There was more intrigue to the Chavez vs Martinez fight but again, what has Chavez done since 2012 to make this fight vs Canelo intriguing? 4. what do I care about ggg seeing money? Has nothing to do with my bank account which is why I don't get all these Canelo fans backing his lame fight choices with money excuses as if they see $1 of that. Canelo makes more money in a ppv fight vs ggg than he has in his last 2 fights combined so I don't know why he keeps dragging this fight out. Well , obviously he's dragging the fight out because he wants lesser competition guys like khan, beefy and Chavez as opposed to someone who'd ko him, but he's making less $ in the process.Oscar vs Vargas drew 935k PPVs. oh really, it was part of his contract? Interesting when you consider his hbo fight vs Kirkland took place after 5 de mayo weekend, not on it and his hbo ppv fight vs cotto was in November, not Sept. He got the dates because mayweather retired, not because of any demand or contract. His ppv numbers are nothing to get excited about when he's the a side. He hasn't cracked half a Mil yet as the A side. As far as the wbo belt and being mandatory, very interesting how that's all of a sudden important to them. They had the higher regarded Mexican based wbc belt and gave it away like it was nothing. Now all of a sudden the Puerto Rican based wbo title was a priority?? He chose beefy because he was the weakest champ in the division. They didn't wanna pick either Charlo brother or go with Lara again so they chose the weak link. Yeah, GBP know what they're doing but not in the way you're implying. It's blatantly the route of least resistance. But I guess you can't see that. When Canelo signed his HBO deal he demanded those dates. Wether Floyd fought on them or not. Either way, he was gonna get them. Honestly bro, how many times do I need to tell you that Lil g has a $15 mil offer on the table @ the full 160 lbs limit for September... if he refuses to sign on the dotted line it's on lil g not Cashnelo. Fine, we get it you don't like Cashnelo, that's cool then don't watch his fights continue watching that bum crusher lil g. I'm sure there's more welterweights and house arrest felons he can fight, lol1. Oscar and vargas aren't an example of 2 mexicans who drew 1 mil.
