You obviously have no knowledge of boxing!
Diego De la Hoya is an amazing prospect.
He has speed, power, and good footwork. You should watch him more than once so you can see what I'm talking about.

don't watch the fight then. Boxing will not stop because you disagree with certain matchups. The fight has the hype behind it to sell over 90,000 tickets if in Dallas and sell over 1 million in PPV buys, what doesn't make sense to you. You want Canelo to fight Billy Saunders or Lemiuex? Canelo will fight GGG in September .He's a prize fighter and he's stacking up money like he should be doing. Do I agree with the fight? not really but im curious to see what it can be if Chavez comes in motivated. This fight is a business move with entertainment value.

Canelo was going to take those dates from mayweather no matter what anyway!
Mayweather has some bums fight against him too so it goes both ways.

because they are both Mexicans and the two most popular boxers of Mexico and it's on 5 de mayo weekend... Other than that no reason.

Chavez is still popular? It's hard to tell with his weak turnout and ratings. And the fight is such a side show. I thought Mexican fans were less gullible, maybe I was wrong.

this fight has been brewing since before you knew who Canelo was.. Just saying. That's how big of a deal it is and the number of sales it does will be a big indicator of it. Also, jr may have had weak turn out and ratings but the fact he lands Canelo and will earn twice what ggg will earn for his fight says it all about the magnitude of this event

Doesn't his upside kick in at 1m buys? So none. That's like Khan expecting 13m, got less than half. Common thread is, Canelo is happy to give ppv upside to bums, but none for the much bigger fight vs a guy that humiliated him so bad. Why do you think that is?

Cowboy stadium would have better atmosphere just look what they did against an unknown opponent like smith, set attendance records for that building and it was rocking. More fans then pacman did in his prime. Now imagine if he fought chavez?shattering the records. But this fight is going to Vegas because that's where the money is. Smaller arenas but Vegas casinos pay out the nose, hike up the ticket prices generate large live gates to allure the high rollers and celebs. Unless jerry Jones comes with a ridiculous offer out of nowhere to blow out Vegas it's going to the new mgm arena.
