If Canelo had kept the belt and fought GGG (his mando) in September, the two of them would have drawn even more fans in Texas; he would have earned much more than fighting Liam Smith.

Has there ever been a Mexican WBC champion who dropped his belt to AVOID a bigger money fight??

Canelo has no problem making it to 160 and probably little problem making it to 168lbs yet he will fight at a catchweight of 164.5lbs against Chavez Jr.

Compare fight night weights to get a good grasp on it, there is literally no reason for Canelo to even remain at the weight he wants to be at (154lbs) because there is no big money fight in that division, he is being advised to do it because the threat at 160 is too great a blind man could see this but the 160lbs division has big money fights in it.

Chavez Jr is a guy who has had a long lay off, was beat badly by Fonfara and has had/shown lack of commitment to the training and the sport of boxing but is a Mexican big name because of his fathers legacy, its a risk to fight Chavez Jr but its nowhere near as big of a risk to fight Chavez that it is to fight GGG.

Whilst Oscar and Canelo adviser are to blame I still believe Canelo should be held accountable for his own actions there have been too many B.S. fights, too many catchweights If Canelo wants to fight GGG I honestly believe it could happen this May but he isn't forcing it like he did with Lara because he knows this one is a much greater threat than he has ever had to deal with in his professional career.
That's a sign of weakness especially when you take in all the factors which I've highlighted for you.
              • Used multiple catchweights (155lbs) as an excuse to not fight the guy we want him to fight
              • Avoided going to full 160 limit
              • His fight night weight is higher than GGG's (GGG: 170-172, Canelo: 172-176)
              • He is bypassing 160 limit to fight at 164.5lbs
              • He promised to make the GGG fight yet used excuses of weight being the issue yet willing to go to 164.5lbs for Chavez jr and weights more on fight night than GGG
              • Says he needs time to grow into the 160 full limit yet here he is willing to surpass that limit of 160

Its at a point where you can't even defend him, sad because I use to really like this guy.
Do you even know what you're talking about? How many Title bout catchweights between Alvarez and Pacquiao?

              Hence catchweight title bouts...

When did Alvarez ''promise'' a fight VERBALLY for GGG? How often do you hear boxers say ''I'll fight anyone...'' after winning a title bout etc... That's common nature of a boxer and how else would they respond?

The thing is whatever K2 wants, the GGG fanboys amplify some insecure and theorical scenario that its his opponents to blame. Common sense tells you that if you know of several clubs popping on a good night, do you stay at the one which sucks or do you go to the other club for better music, vibe etc..? #168

that is probably true, but this fight is now bigger than it was back then. So money wise it was a good move. Plus ggg and his team are the ones that kept saying we only want the belt, I'm not moving from 160, and with a 14 day limit to come up with an agreement or else it went to a purse big, in which Canelo would receive 55 and ggg 45 of the split per WBC rules... You see it all led to Canelo vacating, but it's a series of things it wasn't just him vacating to avoid the fight it was never that, the main reason was the time frame to come up with a deal, and the 55-45 split if no deal was agreed upon which is ****** for Canelo to take. Smart move by Canelo and golden boy. Now ggg still begging for his shot, at the full 160 instead of going to 155 back then making the fight, but now he had to wait and while he waits he gets older he only brought that upon himself. You see, ggg nor Canelo are afraid of each other. They are fighters it's what they do. The promoters are in a tug-a-war to try and get the biggest piece of the pie as possible... And in the mean time, they throw dirt on each other, build it up and us fans are eating it all up. They know what they are doing and that is making the fight bigger as time passes. Only problem is... How long will ggg and his team wait till they give in? He is only getting older. Canelo is in great position. But people don't see all this, well I do. And in my opinion ggg and his team should take the 15 mil in sept of this year and take a shot at beating the man to become the man. He can then make more money on future fights after that.

that's because Golovkin and K2 are seriously afraid of the cards. If Golovkin and K2 were confident with a 100% win by KO they would'Ve taken the 15million and made even more after that and persuading whoever had the WBO... Then 168 would come, and as most NSB guys swear, no one at 168 can beat Golovkin, therefore, even easier to become Lineal 168..

But that's all fantasy because K2 nor Golovkin can guarantee a KO over Alvarez.

                  That's the Truth Time Bomb.

Robi13, I fully agree that this fight now could be bigger than what it was if held last September. K2 is banking on that as well so accepting the $10 million offer -- recently upped to $15 million -- so far in advance of this September would be foolish.

My point is they could have had TWO mega-fights (via rematch) by this September if Canelo would have dropped his dress instead of his belt. You feel me?

Robi unfortunately I am not a nationalistic boxing diehard fan like you. I could careless about Puerto Rican fighters, I am a fan of the sport of boxing and not blind like you who only see it at "us versus them" mentality. You want to be a Canelo fanboy go right ahead but don't defend a person who could careless about you. Canelo is a joke and he is running on borrowed time, the boxing gods will take his soul soon and you will be crying like una putica que no lo pagaron.

take a seat Stan and ease off the nuthugging. Team Canelo paying you for all this effort you put forth to this thread?
