Carr and Campas aren't worthy of the hall of fame and Camacho really shouldn't be...he's one of the biggest wastes of talent to put on gloves. He was never the same fighter after Rosario...you know this...and by the time he fought Tito, he was well past his best and well above his best weight.Originally posted by machotimeGood post but the ones in bold are future hall of famers, Tito also had Whitaker, and Vargas, he was the first to KO joppy, The first to beat Vargas, arguably has the best left hook in Welterweight history and captured titles in 3 different weight classes with over 20 title defenses. And by the way, Tito's resume is better than Hearns' at welterweight....by a long shot..
Tito did great things, that is why he will be a great Hall of Famer, and will be remembered for many many years.
The Vargas win I'd mentioned. It is impressive; but it's not at 147, which is what this thread is about. Same with Joppy; and Joppy was nothing. He was an over-hyped fighter who's biggest name opponent before Tito was an 82 year old Duran. Oh, forgot about Julio Caesar Green....he's probably HOF bound too, aye.
Tito is a great fighter....never said he wasn't; but all-time great Welterweight is a bit of a stretch, IMO, at this point.

I love your post except for one thing..Tito is the best WW ever...everyone is talking about the boxers he has face but those same boxers beat the **** out of everyone they face....Tito was on a head hunt for the champ and every single time he simply destryoed the champ...thats what make him the man....thats what makes him the best WW ever......hands down..Originally posted by K-DOGGCarr and Campas aren't worthy of the hall of fame and Camacho really shouldn't be...he's one of the biggest wastes of talent to put on gloves. It has always been the consensus among experts that Robinson was at his best at Welterweight.Originally posted by the_truth_1984Sugar Ray Robinson would probably be my pick for the greatest welterweight of all time.I mean when most consider him to be the greatest fighter ever how can he not be the greatest welterweight ever.Thomas Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard would be in the Top 5.Trinidad and DLH are great fighters but I don't think they are in the Top 10 at 147.

I dont care for all this Tito talk and i dont know if he's been mentioned, but Aaron Pryor was one of the baddest sons of bitches i've ever seen at that weight(regardless of how many drugs he was on...)

After watching it and scoring it again a few weeks ago, my final tally: 115-114 Oscar De La Hoya....and that was scoring the first round even. I haven't got my score card with me; but that's my final score on the bout. I think after the first 7, I had it at 5-1-1; but I could be mistaken.Originally posted by Rane-Ex54K-Dogg. I know the fight was crappy but how did you score the Tito/ De La Hoya fight? Who did you have winning? Just curious.
Bottom line, as much running and non-fighter as Oscar did to finish the bout, he'd still built up a big enough lead in the early rounds, that he should have, technically, secured a win.
However, I believe it was Teddy Atlas who said that Oscar lost all right he had to complain about the decision by fighting the way he did in the second half of the fight.
I agree with Teddy.Last edited by K-DOGG; 05-17-2006, 09:48 AM.
