I appreciate it; but if I were you, I'd really...really go back and watch some Robinson footage and examine Tito's opponents and weaknesses vs those of Robinson.

I understand the passion for Tito, that's what this sport is all about, Passion; but to really place a fighter in the pantheon where he belongs, we must train ourselves to put our passion aside and really examine the evidence with an unbiased eye. It's not easy; but it's the only fair way to do it.

I will admit I might be being a bit hard on Tito by not includding him in the Top 10 of all time; but that's because his career is still fresh. At some point in time I'll really re-look over his accomplishments and maybe I'll change my mind about placing him in the Top Ten; but I can't see me ever placing him atop them all...just cant.

He was a very good/great fighter with a great heart; but I feel he has too many flaws and discrepancies to ever be top of the list.

      • I now aaron Pryors personal problems, and i dont think he's better then any of the Sugars(L&R), but i just wanted to throw in some variety, quick question though, If he had faught Leonard who do you think would have won?

        • K-Dogg. Say Tito comes back and defeats De La Hoya Convincingly in a re-match. Would you throw him in you top 10 then? For some reason, Tito not being in your Top 10 Welterweights is crazy to me. IF anything, he dominated the Welter's throughout the 90's & had one of the most powerful punches that division has ever seen.

say playa...i think these guys are just trying to keep up a good debate here...its obvious that we are the only two voting Tito as the all-time WW.

I don't know. Truthfully, given Oscar's activity as of late, a convincing win over De La Hoya couldn't do anything but help him, given the controversy of the first bout.

However, both are past their primes; but close enough in age that it could make a difference. Think of Leonard-Hearns II, which ended in a draw...everybody knew Tommmy won that fight, and even though both were past their best, I do believe that helped Tommy's status.

De La Hoya-Trinidad II, should it happen, will not carry nearly the significance of the original; but if Tito wins and wins convincingly, it couldn't help but help him in his overall rankings.

The reason I don't have Tito in the Top Ten is because when you compare his reign, does it measure up? Maybe. Like I said, his career is too freshly ended. I generally don't feel right ranking a fighter and really re-examining his career until after he's been retired for about five years or until he's obviously past his better days and on the skids. The threat of a Trindidad comeback is still a possibility, so I will wait until his career is concluded before pouring cement around any of my analysis of him...he deserves that.

I believe a bout between the two would cure feelings for both...especially Oscar...
