Originally posted by machotimeGood post but the ones in bold are future hall of famers, Tito also had Whitaker, and Vargas, he was the first to KO joppy, The first to beat Vargas, arguably has the best left hook in Welterweight history and captured titles in 3 different weight classes with over 20 title defenses. And by the way, Tito's resume is better than Hearns' at welterweight....by a long shot..
Tito did great things, that is why he will be a great Hall of Famer, and will be remembered for many many years.
The Vargas win I'd mentioned. It is impressive; but it's not at 147, which is what this thread is about. Same with Joppy; and Joppy was nothing. He was an over-hyped fighter who's biggest name opponent before Tito was an 82 year old Duran. Oh, forgot about Julio Caesar Green....he's probably HOF bound too, aye.
Tito is a great fighter....never said he wasn't; but all-time great Welterweight is a bit of a stretch, IMO, at this point.

He was never the same fighter after Rosario...you know this...and by the time he fought Tito, he was well past his best and well above his best weight.

I dont care for all this Tito talk and i dont know if he's been mentioned, but Aaron Pryor was one of the baddest sons of bitches i've ever seen at that weight(regardless of how many drugs he was on...)

Bottom line, as much running and non-fighter as Oscar did to finish the bout, he'd still built up a big enough lead in the early rounds, that he should have, technically, secured a win.
However, I believe it was Teddy Atlas who said that Oscar lost all right he had to complain about the decision by fighting the way he did in the second half of the fight.
I agree with Teddy.Last edited by K-DOGG; 05-17-2006, 09:48 AM.
