Its because they did not want to risk losing and having a big payday go away. We have seen this reasoning other times as well. Manny not fighting Zahir Raheem Or GGG being willing to go to 168 for Chavez but not Ward. Niether Manny or GGG were worried about losing by KO, just losing.
Lol. I was just teasing him there.

GB are already talking about it, potentially at a catch-weight of 164.

Like it or not, JCC is a big money draw because he's got his papa's name, and everyone is going to be interested.

Lets face it, if there were a double header on 5 May with GGG v Ramirez and Canelo v JCC Jr, may as well just shut down Mexico for a day. GGG and Canelo would be expected to come out winners, then all neatly set up for the main course.

Don't know if it plays out like that, but wouldn't mind in the slightest....

Exactly. There is nothing Canelo could say to justify making that fight.

Canelo won't say anything, but his promoter has already said:

              - Canelo-Chavez is a fight that interest a lot of people
              - to us it sounds like a very good fight for the fans
              - more than anything, all of Mexico is interested in the fight

Basically he's saying Mexico wants it, and I doubt Mexico will disagree.

how difficult is it when he only actually fought for 1 out 3....the only titleholder he defeated was Lemieux bro...even if he beat BJS...he still never beat all the other titleholders, he got them by technicality

Jose Luis Castillo he fought 2x was no cherry pick and went on to win lightweight title after floyd moved to 140

Corely was a former titlist, he was calling out tszyu for years he fought hatton insdtead...next best option was Gatti...no cherrypick bro

Moves up again and beat the 2 most recent undisputed and lineal champions baldomir and judah....came back and regained lineage through mosley and pac(who many said he'd never fight)

Fough ODLH @ 154 after only 5 fights past 135, odlh picked gloves, ring size, division etc

its ok bro...you dont seem to know much about the man's career

how can you make excuses for GGG, then in the same breathe try to minimize mayweather's accomplishments when he clearly took more risks and beat better fighters than GGG......PATHETIC ON YOUR END

Agreed with all points but I still think Canelo would still get crucified for making this fight.

I'd watch, if Julio can take the power it'll be an interesting fight.
