I love Paulie's commentary but he was wildin when he said Charlo can beat Canelo. Canelo is GOD of junior middleweights.

Oh, and Larry. Ignore Chollo, he's "unsure" if Jermall Charlo can beat the super young, unproven, and inexperienced Erickson Lubin LMAOOOO! This dude is apparently all eye test. The problem with that is that every decent fighter looks good in their first 10 to 20 fights because they haven't fought anybody. The eye test doesn't matter until you start fighting legit competition. J-Rock had his first real fight. That's the fight where you use the eye test. When you don't understand that, you become "unsure" if Charlo can beat Lubin...

From what i have seen Charlo is lacking in defense..Now he may prove me wrong but that is my opinion as of now..

It was close, but a completely different situation.

Canelo was 21 and very green, Trout was prime and had just beat Cotto.

Charlo is 26 and Trout was faded and had recently been beat down by Lara.

We'll find out about Charlo soon (hopefully), beating Williams didn't really prove much.

Not only, as you correctly pointed out, has Williams not proven anything yet, it was also clear to anyone with eyes that Charlo is at least a very good fighter. Elite needs to be proven. But he is very good. No average joes are beating Trout, even if he did struggle.

I will still continue to watch prospects and enjoy them developing. But threads like the one proclaiming Julian a future ATG are just cringe worthy. Same as any now that are completely writing him off. The chin maybe an issue, time will tell. You arent supposed to get dropped that bad off a jab. But at the same time, chins that are on Amir Khan or David Price level normally show some signs even before they get obliterated. Ive watched lots of Jrocks fight and never seen him slightly wobble.

Anyways. Williams is far from done in this sport and i want to see what he does next. Im hoping he can get back to a decent level in the next few fights. He also needs to get top level sparring. I watched an interview with his trainer before the fight and he said they only get local guys in for sparring. No way to prepare for a world level fighter
I think the jab was more of a balance issue to be fair.

Again, I'm not saying he was a future ATG like mlac said, I'm just saying there's nothing wrong with people saying he would beat Charlo before last night.

Someone had to predict a winner. Some people chose Charlo and others chose Williams. It was a pickem fight and someone had to lose.

I, literally, hate Sunday's after the big fights on Saturdays because NSB goes full ****** afterwards.

Someone had to lose and it was Williams. To say people shouldn't be saying he's a good fighter is asinine.

I think you're getting to caught up in the Golovkin thread that was made last night and that prompted you to make this one.

There's a difference in people critisizing Golovkin's win over Monroe Jr and people saying Julian Williams is a good fighter. Golovkin is in P4P talks and should fight worthy competition. Jermall and Williams are both up and comers and are 26 years old and are very good prospects; I think Jermall just separated himself and is no longer a prospect, but deserves a fight with Canelo.

The criticism GGG gets is different and is justified because he's been in the game for over 10 years, is a P4P fighter and is 34, soon to be 35 years old

Again, it's nothing wrong with having a fighter/prospect that passes the eye test and you, as a fan, saying that.
Charlo-Williams was a damn good fight at the right time as both are 26..i am just saying chill and let the fighters grow..Thats all

I agree. Julian Williams' comments about Trout and Bundrage bothered me.

Charlo beat a very good version of Trout. If Williams had fought someone near this level, he would have been better prepared for this fight.
