We have got to stop hyping fighters so fast

I made that mistake with Broner, Charlo beat J-Rock woh has literally beaten no one..so why was J-Rock hyped so much? i dont get it, and Charlo didnt look like some great elite fighter in the fight either. I think we as boxing fans get a little to damn excited after fights. Sure at 26 this is a fight he had to win and a i applaud him for it and will say he is on the right path. But is he fights Canelo next i see it being a brutal night for him. There are levels in this sport and Canelo is an Elite well crafted fighter and Charlo seems to be a couple levels below. I wish the young man much success but lets stop hyping these damn kids up so fast and let them grow as fighters

Agreed, and the same can be said for guys like AJ, Wilder, Garcia, and Shiming.

Sometimes you have to go off the eye test and proclaim who you think has the most talent/potential. If everyone waiting until a fighter is #1 to finally get on the bandwagon then how can you really tell who KSAB as oppose to those that DKSAB?

amen to most of what you said but i dont think canelo gives charlo a brutal beatdown if they should fight next year...toss up type of fight even though i slightly favor canelo...if charlo isnt ready for that type of fight now when will he ever be???guys 26 and a title holder talking about moving up to his 2nd weight class...he feels hes ready and thats good enough for me

I am not slamming the kid, he has heart and in entertaining, but Canelo is far more talented and battle tested..Canelo stops him

Secondly, you had two fighters in their prime, fighting at the best stage of their career. Half the forum picked Charlo and the other half picked Williams. Charlo was the winner, it doesn't mean that Williams was over hyped.

They were both up and coming. Maybe Williams beats 90% of the other JMW's not named Charlo?

I remember when Mayweather was set to fight Corrales. That was a pickup fight at the time. Some said Mayweather, some said Corrales.

Just because Mayweather won, does that mean Corrales was over hyped at the time? I don't think so.

One guy had to win last night and it was Charlo. I don't think Williams was over hyped at all.
