Between the take on the gate, the share of the PPV, Matchroom Sport paying for the UK TV rights, etc, Kovalev-Ward seemed to have cleared at least $10m.

$5m to Ward, $2m guarantee to Kovalev, and then Kovalev and Duva split the remaining $2m remaining proceeds on the fight.

My friend and I bet who would buy dinner the next time we ate out, so as far as I'm concerned compared to Duva, HBO, and Top Rank, I made out like a bandit.

Hindsight being 20/20, the bar would've been $3.5m; with NYC being the media capital of the world, Andre Ward having the ability to run through the New York media circuit (and possibly even ESPN, if Kellerman would lean on it), Jay-Z likely bigging up the fight for Brooklyn, and the New York metro area being home to the largest Russian/Russian-speaking population in the US, saying that it wouldn't have is a bit premature.

In New York she could've gotten the foreign judges. This lady thinks she she's the smartest person in the room and it's always backfiring.
But then you are completely ignoring the insurance policy in NY.

Duva, for one of the few times in the history of her time at the head of her company, was in position to call her shot on arguably the biggest event her company has ever seen, and let that control get in the way of doing good business.

Roc Nation has the lead on the rematch, and they're unlikely to make the same mistake.

Nearly 47k tickets sold, with over $5m coming in on the gate (per Dan Rafael, who went and got the numbers from the Texas commission)

Thats not how it works. Ward's 5 mil gusrantee is rns poblem and kovalev 2mil is ME problem. After they split the revenue 50-50 they each pay their own fighters from their own pockets. obviiously ME did a lot better. MGM isnt gving them the whole gate either
