Comments Thread For: Ward-Kovalev: $3.3 Million Live Gate From 10,066 Tickets Sold

Kathy Duva folks. She just had to have it in Vegas at the T-Mobile. An arena even Canelo couldn't sell out. The tickets weren't that expensive for a Vegas fight. Could've been held in New York like Roc Nation wanted. The media capital of the world. Probably would've sold more PPV too. And she knew Nevada rules are local judges for their fights. In New York she could've gotten the foreign judges. This lady thinks she she's the smartest person in the room and it's always backfiring.
And secondly, any gains in the live gate would have been more than erased by the fact that NY has a state income tax.Last edited by OnePunch; 12-06-2016, 12:31 AM.Comment

I remember we were told 9,500 were sold in the first 36 hours. So 566 were sold in the following 2 months? How does that work?
In 1st 36 hrs of tix on sale for #KovalevWard about 9,500 of 17,500 available were sold. Glad to see fans responding to a great match.

And to clarify on the #KovalevWard tix -- they are sold to public, not brokers/consignments. #boxing

Cotto's fight at MSG doubled GGG's gate and he didn't have 20,000 in attendance. It's possible to do the same numbers or better in New York. That 3.3 mil is low for VegasComment

@MikeCoppinger Not it. Manny doesn't live here, so it has no impact. It's that casinos pay more because they can bring in super high rollers

@MikeCoppinger Mayweather lives here so he pays no state tax, but it doesn't do anything for non-residents.

Comparing Canelo's fight in Dallas to Ward-Kovalev in Vegas is apples to oranges. Compare his fight in Vegas at the same arena. He did more than double the gate with only 5,000 more people.

Better deal in VegasComment

The cheapest seats, which cost $150, are sold out. But seats can still be purchased for as low as $250, while the best tickets cost $1,500. Other tickets cost $400, $600, $800, $1,000 and $1,200.Comment
