Comments Thread For: Ward-Kovalev: $3.3 Million Live Gate From 10,066 Tickets Sold

Depending on your viewpoint, the live gate for the recent unified light heavyweight title fight between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev performed reasonably well for two boxers in their first major Pay-Per-View event, or only further exposed their lack of commercial market appeal.

Kathy Duva folks. She just had to have it in Vegas at the T-Mobile. An arena even Canelo couldn't sell out. The tickets weren't that expensive for a Vegas fight. Could've been held in New York like Roc Nation wanted. The media capital of the world. Probably would've sold more PPV too. And she knew Nevada rules are local judges for their fights. In New York she could've gotten the foreign judges. This lady thinks she she's the smartest person in the room and it's always backfiring.

This puts the revenue at $13 - $14m. Don't know how much HBO got from that, so hard to for me to say if it was profitable.

Dude I doubt if MSG or Barclays would have made that much money.. Consider this, NYC also has insurance costs which eats into the budget..

well judging by the aliments of the chair and their ability to hold up to 500lbs meaning a fat dude did not have to buy 2 seat and the fact that ward is half breed this all signals that they lost money under the current U.S. fiat money system.

$3.3M gate is huge for these two. For comparison, Crawford-Postol did $750K at the gate. Golovkin-Lemieux did $2M.
