Yeah we have like 100% opposite perspectives on the fight. It seemed like Kovalev got away with everything. He had a low blow late in the fight (was warned, but it was still a bad punch), he "fell down" when he was absolutely gassed and exhausted (he needed a break), and he held/clinched Ward all night long...especially in the first half of the fight. I get that Ward clinches often in his fights, but it was mostly Kovalev clinching from my 1080p HDTV

I agree Kovalev was the one hugging in the later rounds. But it was Ward doing the wrestling early. Basically, Ward hugged Kovalev for 5-6 rounds, big time, until Kovalev got tired and was no more dangerous. Then Kovalev was in trouble because he slowed down out of his bad cardio and he was the one trying to hug in order not to get hit. In any case, i don't recall a match with that much hugging, maybe Fury versus Wlad was close to this level of hugging.

just like he faked an injury and avoided this fight tonight right?? yeah ward will find a way to avoid a rematch.. ward has kovalev completely figured out, he took away his right hand and boxed his eyebrows off.. in a rematch kovalev will drown in more blood. . trust me the guy who should be scared of a rematch is kovalev.. when cerebral boxers have you figured out, its best to stay away

Andre Ward kind of got exposed in this fight. Kovalev made it hard on himself by following Ward around the ring. This fight proved to me why Floyd Mayweather's ring IQ will never be match. He doesn't have to rely on making fights ugly. That's what Ward did in this fight. Not a robbery. But I thought the wrong fighter got the decision.

Ward's ring IQ is on par with Floyd Mayweather's but he is nowhere near as gifted athletically as Floyd is. Andre was in the way of Kovalevs right hand way too often where Floyd wouldn't have been because he stays on his toes constantly. In order for Ward to have won this fight clearly he would have had to use the same gameplan Floyd used for the Canelo fight but Ward doesn't have the footspeed or timing to pull that off.

There was one round I gave to Kovalev which could've went to Ward but another round I gave to Ward that could've went to Kovalev.

Even if you score that fight by who landed more in which rounds, Kov comes out the winner.

Ward did not win 7 rounds, but he needed 8 after the KD.

No, he needed 7. 115-113 is 7-5. -1 pt. for the KD is 114-113 Ward.

This was a 1 pt. fight either way.

There is no way Ward won. I gave Kovalev 8 rounds but can see 2 other rounds people could maybe give ward. So best scenario for ward its 6-6 with a knockdown meaning theres no way he could have won... still lost 114-113 what a ****ing joke!!!

I've been watching boxing for more than 50 years
my grandfather introduced me to the sport, he was a fighter
there have always been bad decisions
but at this level this kind of bull**** shouldn't happen
boxing is so ****ed right now

I can't believe that having been a lifelong fan I'm so disgusted I find myself seriously asking myself if I should ever watch a fight again

all serious fans watch a lot of everyday fights

but we live for the great fights where the great fighters face each other and we witness something special

now, these occasions are few and far between

fights are left to 'marinate' for years and momentum is lost (eg ggg and canelo)

the game suffers but then we have moments of hope - Kovaleve and Ward, a fight worthy of the sport
and then we get this bull**** decision
is more than disheartening, it's sickening

I truly didn't care who won, but I cared that it was a fair fight and the true winner's hand was raised
I just feel sick right now

and Ward and Hunter going on about how they knew they won (look at their faces before the decision was announced) and Kellerman going on about how it would be controversial but not bad - just awful

It's ridiculously corrupt. Pretty sad really. You have people who will make excuse after excuse for a guy winning when nine out of ten others would say he lost. It's like it's all about their guy winning at any cost. It's not about watching the fight and making a rational decision about who won. They'd back up their guy no matter what happened. Disgusting.

Yep. Kovalev didnt impose his will enough in this fight, he didnt act like the bigger guy. After round 4-5, Ward was connecting everywhere.

And Kovalev just started to follow him around instead of cutting off the ring....I think Kovalev got exposed tonight and now everyone will just try to take him into deep waters and hope he drowns like he did tonight.
