The Fight could've gone either way. I thought the knockdown would've been the deciding factor for Kovalev, but hey I guesss what the judges seen was Ward's ability to climb a hill. In any case what a great 12 Rd. Fight would love to see it again.
Dude he has only a basic grasp of the language, just went twelth round and was upset. I dont think you should expect a thorough analysis of the fight lol
You just gave Ward too much credit for what he did and forgot the fact Kovalev was answered all of Ward's offense.
It was like "Since Kovalev did not dominate or KD Ward, I'll give to Ward".
I don't think that was the case. Both guys were landing jabs throughout the fight, but it was Ward in the 2nd half of the fight who dictated the pace of the fight and landed virtually ALL of the body work (and Kov's body was red on both sides). Aside from that their power shots and jabs cancelled each other out, but it was Kov who was fading...not Ward.
Again, I was okay with 114-113 and I thought they might give it to Kovy, but I personally thought Ward earned the win. People saying they had it 116-111 is insane to me. If someone says "I had Lara beating Canelo" I say okay. Same with this fight, I'm okay with a narrow win for either guy. It was a good, close fight
Am I the only one that actually liked the fight?
Thought it was very tense, emotional, brutal and high paced.
Team Kovalev accepted the American judges beforehand so they can't cry about that now.
By getting shoved to the ropes all night? You need drugs to be sane.
That's why Kovalev was the one that tired out, and looked visibly frustrated in the 8th or 9th round when he shoved Ward to the ropes, because he couldn't get his punches off anymore, and was getting jabbed to death, and getting his body tore out the frame.
Ward's ring IQ is on par with Floyd Mayweather's but he is nowhere near as gifted athletically as Floyd is. Andre was in the way of Kovalevs right hand way too often where Floyd wouldn't have been because he stays on his toes constantly. In order for Ward to have won this fight clearly he would have had to use the same gameplan Floyd used for the Canelo fight but Ward doesn't have the footspeed or timing to pull that off.
It's just all about speed. Floyd is one of the fastest in the sport. Ward's dad was white so it's no surprise that he has to rely on intelligence more than natural athletic ability and speed.
Ward ****** that body all night..,,it's like people are only scoring head shots. While Kovalev was slowing down and swinging air, Ward was ****ing a straight left to the body as a setup to every position.
People aren't scoring anything.
99% of the people crying robbery on here, twitter, instagram, facebook, didn't even keep a scorecard.
They just watch the fight as one big round and get upset when the result isn't what they expected.
