He's guaranteed 5 million (and who knows what he's making beyond that, including numerous sponsors) and is something like the #3 highest paid boxer in 2016, if a article posted here recently was correct. So, he clearly knows what he's doing. Particularly if he's as low-profile as you think he is, making that much scratch is a real accomplishment.

Ward is extremely intelligent and well-educated. A "rara avis" in the pro boxing environment...

Floyd won many times just because he is black. And yes, black is a race but non-American blacks support their own too, and not the American blacks.

Whether it is high school, religion, race, ethnicity, nationality...most people want to see their own win, but every once in a while, someone comes along who transcends that. Joe Louis, Jesse Owens, Michael Jordan, Ali in his later years, Babe Ruth, Pele, Magic and Bird are a few examples. I don't know what it means and the list is arbitrary, but notice how many of these stars who transcend their sport are black.

Even back when the comments were made, i never read them as advice, or an attempt to help Ward in anyway.

They're simply trying to make the best LHW fight because neither guy brings a huge amount of revenue without these big fights, so they have to make it if everyone wants to make good money.
