Golovkin should just take the 10 million...

You can use the phrase: "Imagine...." and apply it to anything. The highest purse he has received so far is 5 million against Kell Brook.
If it wasn't for Brook taking that fight and it being in the UK, he would not get that amount.
Imagine if Golovkin never had that fight and went after Canelo. The highest he could have got was 8 million tops.
Imagine if Canelo hadn't gotten the opportunities to fight the likes of Floyd and Cotto. Then where would he be? Go and look at his figures against Angulo, Lara, Kirkland, Trout and Smith etc.
Regarding Brook, GG was initially scheduled to fight Eubank for the same $5m purse.Comment

GGG ain't doing more than a 100k buys in May or September on his own, ever. I think anything over ten he should take not that he will make that himself after its cut and divided.
He's in a position where he can't really demand anything and has to take whatever they offer him but his team know that was an opening offer and it'll increase in a years time when Canelo has fought again on PPV in May and September. The GGG fight isn't happening next year hopefully 2018 at the earliest yet even then I suspect it will be delayed until the year after. Anything can happen in that time and GGG may have wished he had taken the ten million when he had the chance.
As for forcing Canelo into a fight without cw handicaps and trying to highlight him as a coward I very much doubt anyone else's opinion matters to him whilst he's making the absolutely monstrous figures he is without GGG.
Imagine a Canelo vs McGregor fight the numbers that would do on Cinco, McGregor would be absolutely schooled by Canelo and the Mexicans would be sold he would be the best ever, an absolute hammering by GGG would see his earning potential suffer disastrous consequences going forward. Canelo has a long fruitful career, GGG is a huge spanner in those works. This fight is not happening any time soon, I'd be shocked if it happened before 2019 if at all.
Canelo is being protected from GGG as GGG was protected from Ward.Comment

He should and personally I think he will. This fight won't happen until 10 months from now anyway so there's plenty of time for more negotiating. I think they're trying to squeeze another few million out of the deal but Golovkin would be ****** to turn down that much money and I don't think he will.Comment

Canelo isn't making monstrous figures without GG or any other big named opponent, and of course he'll be bothered about how his reputation has been tarnished.Last edited by robertzimmerman; 11-13-2016, 11:29 AM.Comment

I'm confused how much are they trying to get? 10 plus some ppv upside sounds like a damn good deal. Canelo got 5 vs cotto right. Gg needs to know his placeComment
