Canelo has never fought at the full weight limit, GGG has. I don't expect Canelo to fight at anything above 157 against Lemieux and BJ Flounders, then finally when he decides to give GGG the opportunity to face him I don't see it being above 158 in 2018 at the earliest.
Golovkin should just take the 10 million...

Why?
Why would he agree something a year out, with a company who has messed him around and proven to be untrustworthy?
Why would he accept a flat fee from a fight that would gross millions in revenue?
Ooh, it's guaranteed. Wow! How kind of GBP.Last edited by robertzimmerman; 11-14-2016, 12:08 PM.Comment

If Oscar isn't planning for Canelo to face GG until 2018, Canelo is going to be abused, and his PPV numbers will continue to be poor, unless he fights Manny or Floyd, which in my opinion is unrealistic.Canelo has never fought at the full weight limit, GGG has. I would not be shocked if the fight did not happen until 2019 if at all, Canelo does NOT need GGG, GGG is the one who NEEDS Canelo to make anywhere close to ten million.
Not saying he should have taken it but he may come to regret taking it before ultimately he ends up suffering a loss at a higher weight class before he gets the chance to fight Canelo. Guys at 168 like Zurdo and Jack I'm sure he will beat but I'm sure a star will rise from somewhere and the demand to face GGG sooner rather than later, now we know he's not the greatest in regards to defence and if this fight with Froch comes off the likelihood is if Froch has the desire he had versus Kessler he'll beat him.Comment

Because if that's what it takes to finally get the big pay day, and big name fight he's been looking for, then freaking take it! I mean, he's supposed to win, right? Win the match, then get paid double for the rematch.
That's usually how it works. Yes, you can make more if you hold out, but that also risks the fight disappearing in front of your eyes. Fighter after fighter has had to do this in the history of boxing. Why the **** is GGG so special? And he'd be the favorite. Win, then get the major major bucks in the rematch. Is it fair, no, but WTF else id he gonna do? Continue to hold out, then they take the deal off the table, and can then use the excuse of GGG proving himself out as a valid excuse, and us fans won't be able to do a damn thing about it, and neither will GGG, or his team.
That's why you do it, genius.Comment

Again, it works both ways. GG can't earn $10m with anyone else, but Canelo also can't make the same amount of money that a GG fight would generate for him.I would not be shocked if the fight did not happen until 2019 if at all, Canelo does NOT need GGG, GGG is the one who NEEDS Canelo to make anywhere close to ten million.

Regarding moving up to SMW, I don't think he'd do that before he fought Canelo. I also don't see Froch coming out of retirement.Comment
