Who are GGG fans to criticize anyone's PPV #s?
Saying Canelo's a one of a kind star is hilarious.

Lemieux was GG's debut. He's just done 500,000 PPV's with Brook.

His fan base is increasing with each fight.

Canelo has done huge numbers with Floyd and Cotto, but check out his other PPV figures against the likes of Kirkland, Angulo and Lara etc.

Without a big name opponent, he doesn't do huge numbers.

He needs GG to make huge money.

    They both need each other.

This isn't a one man show.

      1. He's not pushing his luck.

      2. He's just earnt $5m for his last fight.

Pacquiao is a legend with an enormous fanbase and GGG isn't Pacquiao since Pac could go eat s hit and fight anyone and take a cool 20+ mil home. GGG doesn't fight Canelo and he's not making 10 mil..that's the diference. Also, Floyd could have accepted a flat offer from Oscar as it didn't matter..he needed the win and that was the most important part. Oscar the name/exposure was the investment and look how well it turned out for Floyd. Even Pacquiao got that golden boy ticket.

GGG has absolutely zero leverage because like it or not..Canelo could sell 4-5 times what GGG does...and he could fight anyone. People will tune in so long as he keeps the KOs coming. He could fight f ucking Margarito and people will watch. GGG is about to be in his mid 30s with no desire to move up (I personally don't mind it ) so where will his money come? Think Canelo cares if GGG has all the titles? Canelo is the lineal champ and already in the books as a former wbc and lineal mw champ. Doubt the rest of the titles are worth bending to GGG's will. Canelo could troll GGG and fight Chavez Jr at 168 or a little less and people would eat that s hit up..sure Jr will be bigger but he'll still get the f uck beaten out of him regardless.

Everyone within 2 weight classes wants the Canelo payday and there will be no shortage of big 147 pounders trying to get in the ring for that nice payday and move up..likewise for the bankable 154 pounders. :/...

I love GGG but boxing politics are such that the lesser named challenger who's likely the favorite but with no fanbase isnt going to get the cash cow of the sport AND get what he wants. GGG needs to accept whatever is tossed his way and take it from Canelo the same way the other cash cows have generally done.
        1. Yes, Floyd fought Oscar. But let's not pretend that Canelo's on the level that Oscar was on.

        2. GG does have leverage.

He gives Canelo his biggest pay day.

He may own every belt in the division by next year.

Canelo is under enormous pressure to make the fight.

        3. Canelo can't outsell GG by 4-5 times, unless he's fighting a huge name.

        4. Canelo can't just fight anyone, because his options are limited and the fans are becoming restless.

        5. GG has no desire to move up YET. But it's always an option.

        6. Nobody classes Canelo as the lineal MW champ. He gave the belt up to fight Liam Smith.

        7. Canelo will not be fighting anybody at SMW.

        8. You've spoke of 147 pounders moving up, but would Canelo be able to make 154 in the future?

He hasn't got the options that you think.

So maybe GGG dont think it will be so easy like NSB experts said and he want this live changing money, and he will take 15-20M in 2018 to take the L

Canelo sold over 200k stateside and has downright ridiculous ratings in Mexico this isn't even a contest. He's not losing fans but 600k people (which is a pretty huge fight numbers wise) arent going to shell out money every time he fights a Smith.. evidenced by Floyd-Berto and some of Manny's fights.

And sure, GGG is building a bit of a fanbase but it'll never be that of Canelo's caliber unless he gets that win. Lets make no mistake about it,GGG sells pretty badly even WITH a decent oponent with a good name in Brook. The UK views were likely 80% for Brook at the least as he's a damn big name there.

Of course Oscar will say GGG is the goal. What else is he going to say? He could eat s hit for the next 3 years and keep saying the same crap and GGG will be on the later side of his 30s by then.

I'm a huge GGG fan so this isn't to s hit on him but you have to look at it from the other side. It's not about defending Canelo its about living in the real world. Is GGG pricing himself out? Not really... I don't believe so but when it comes to the cash cow and the face of boxing reality dictates that he gets what he's offered or nothing. It sucks but that's not just boxing its business
Again, GG hasn't got a lot of great options, and once he's officially at MW, the pressure will be unbearable.

Regarding Brook, I'm English, and I can tell you that Brook did not pull in 80% of the fans. Brook hasn't got a huge fan base. GG's popularity is gaining with each fight.

GG's figures will continue to rise, and Canelo's won't get any higher unless he fights someone relevant.

I have no doubt that Tom knows more about managing a fighter than every user on this forum combined, but imho his personal desire to get a mega payday from a single fight has really fúcked up Golovkin's legacy.
To my knowledge, K2 doesn't possess psychic powers. They were right to take the step-aside money.

Cotto was never going to fight GG, so GG let him fight Canelo, knowing that he was again the mandatory to the victor, and in the meantime, he fought for the IBF belt. So that was smart.

He took step-aside from Canelo, because he was acting in good faith. Oscar conned everyone into believing that they'd fight GG after a warm up against Khan. They even invited GG into the ring afterwards and told Loeffler to await their phone call. Loeffler didn't think that they were a bunch of jokers back in May. But as we saw, Oscar didn't phone Loeffler, he instead phoned Frank Warren to negotiate for a fight against Liam Smith.

Oscar has proven to be completely untrustworthy. So why on earth would K2 accept their BS offer?

Fighters get paid too much as it is. Arguello and Pryor barely made 3 million COMBINED for their first fight and they were both far more exciting than Canelo and GGG will ever be.

The only fight that buys Canelo time is BJS.

If GG gets to him first and beats him, Canelo would have nowhere to go.

Who's Canelo going to fight to climb the rankings? Those fights would bomb and the pressure would be unbearable.

Boxing was definitely bigger back in Arguello/Pryor's day. I'm all for GGG reaching a fair price but not at the expense of this fight not happening in September or sooner. If it comes down to the bottom wire GGG needs to take the money. I am all for him negotiating but he needs to take the money if it comes down to it. 10 mill is more than enough for 36 minutes of fighting.
