They couldn't go for unification at 160 and fight Ward at 168 in the same time frame, so had to make a choice. If Canelo and BJS had lived up to their words, GGG could have been the sports only undisputed, 4 belt world champion and a huge star by now. It was a no-brainer, really.

For me, that's an insufficient response. Neither of them wanted the fight bad enough. They refused to make the necessary concessions to make the fight happen. If they are serious about making it happen in the future, I'm all ears, but I won't get caught up in he say, she say when both of them share blame for the fight not happening.
I'm pretty much over it until GGG wants to move up because Ward isn't coming down. I'm not saying that GGG should move up to fight Ward, but considering how RJJ went out, I understand why he won't move back down to 168 for a GGG fight, especially since the fight was already offered at that weight previously. Whenever the fight is more plausible for both boxers is when I will give it more attention. Until then, we are all trapped in conversation on a potentially great fight that may not ever happen... which is

I wonder if seeing a Yusef Mack video gives you flashbacks of the "special" times you had as a child with your "uncle" bob..........I wonder if seeing Ward grapple and punch, and overall just working guys over on the inside with artistry gives Golovkin flashbacks of when Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov was pushing his **** in. He may genuinely be on a PTSD kick whenever Ward is around. I don't blame him for not taking the fight really, every fighter has a style kryptonite.Comment

Don't know how Ward still gets criticized. Triple G fight didn't happen (G was at striking distance from a Canelo or Floyd fight) and he goes up to fight a more proven fighter.
I guess some here like to cry just to cry.Comment

"once you go up in weight, you never go down. You just dont do it"
unless you are golovkin, then you are expected to go up to 168 and then back down to 155. Failure to immediately do so is a duck of course
or if you're chad dawson. Then you're supposed to go downComment

The problem with this is you are either forgetting or ignoring the fact he discussed fights with Froch and Chavez jr. at 168.They couldn't go for unification at 160 and fight Ward at 168 in the same time frame, so had to make a choice. If Canelo and BJS had lived up to their words, GGG could have been the sports only undisputed, 4 belt world champion and a huge star by now. It was a no-brainer, really.
When the choice was Froch or Chavez jr., it's clear that GGG and his team were willing not to choose unification or were willing to go up to fight either of these 2 and then go back to 160 to complete unification.Comment

Or you can just choose one.Comment

What you are doing here is ****ing disgraceful.
GGG and his team were fully willing to go to 168 and then come back down when fans were not asking him to because they saw the financial gains that could be made form a froch or Chavez jr. fight prior to unification.
You are now acting like fans are asking him to do the impossible when all they wanted was GGG and his team to make the same decision with an opponent that wouldn't of yielded the same financial gain but would have given fans a better fight.
Come on One Punch!Comment

Disappointing to hear but not unexpected really. Ward is simply too big for GGG and the fight would in all honesty be a miss-match. I would favour Ward even if the two were the same size given that Ward is a better boxer but with the size and strength advantage it wouldn't really be much of a contest.
Still we have the Kovalev fight to look forward to so not a huge loss imoComment
