    overmatched is overmatched

Brook was overmatched as were brand and smith. Difference is Ward wasnt so much naturally bigger than those guys like GGG was over Brook

Both fighters scheduled another fight for 2015, even though Ward pulled out of his first Brand engagement with an injury. One tune up in 2016 prior to their fight makes mid 2016 (basically a full year after the offer) before their fight. Third, dont act like Golovkin sought out the Brook fight. Golovkin signed a contract to fight Eubank at 160, but that dude b itched out. Fortunately for everyone involved, Brook was willing to step up and fill the void.

What we have here us Andre Ward sounding like, and acting like, a total b itch on her period. Wanting to cry about Golovkin fighting a smaller man, while in the same breath, asking a smaller man to move up and fight, without being willing to negotiate on the weight. Just like last year. Crying ass hypocrite b itch, Andre Ward.
      October 9, 2015:

According to Loeffler , the offer was rejected because K2 had already finalized Golovkin's upcoming HBO Pay-Per-View fight with Lemieux - and the winner would become the mandatory challenger to the November 21st showdown between WBC champion Miguel Cotto and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Loeffler indicates that their strategy, since last year, has been to unify the middleweight division.

However, during that period they did explore potential fights at super middleweight with both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

When it came it Ward, Loeffler and Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez made it very clear that a catch-weight of 164-pounds would be required. They also feel their boxer deserves a bigger portion of the monetary split. Roc Nation's offer was an even 50-50 deal.

Golovkin came under fire for his catch-weight demand. Loeffler explained that Golovkin fighting at the full weight limit of 168 would only be considered if the event was financially worth the risk. They felt a fight with Ward would not have generated the same financial benefits as a fight with Froch or Chavez...

"We made him an offer, prior quite frankly, to knowing about the fight with Lemieux. But regardless of that fight, the offer was very, very clear - that he and Andre would both have one fight before they fought each other, and they would fight each other sometime in the first half of 2016. So obviously the fight with Lemieux would continue to move forward and the next fight would be Andre in 2016.

"They received the offer and in 36 minutes we got a response which basically stated 'we cannot accept the offer and we're going in a different direction.' In 36 minutes [they turned it down], so that tells me there was not even any consideration given to the offer, because at the end of the day Triple G always knew that he would never fight Andre Ward.

Over the last few weeks, a lot has been said and a lot has been written with respect to a potential fight between WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Go

      It's nice to have facts!

if ward fought anyone 2 divisions below, he would get trashed by everyone

alexander brand is a worse fight than kell brook. i don't care if you don't understand that.

the problem with the kell brook fight is that it was ppv in the UK, and not marketed as the stay busy and get paid against a no hoper fight that it was. several people had to turn down fights for that fight to materialize. ward wanted the brand fight for a while, and held HBO over the coals to make a main event out of it. he did it as a tune up for a pound for pounder, but if you are going to "excuse" it in that regard, then you should consdier that golovkin fights mandatories and kell brooks because canelo alvarez' promotors do not want the biggest fight in boxing because their guy is going to lose.

you guys just don't have the capability of being objective. you don't. i don't know why i waste my time talking with you.

Imagine if GGG tried to fight a guy so sorry that the state athletic commission wouldn't even sanction the fight. Imagine if GGG didn't fight for years at a time and wasn't stripped of a belt. Imagine if GGG was stripped of a belt due to inactivity. Imagine if GGG kept suing and losing to his promoter until said promoter died. Imagine if GGG was Andre Ward...

Brand was not the only guy Ward's team contacted..
he was the last resort because others were not interested of asked for way too much.

In terms of this article, I didn't even read it because Ward already did a "Brook move" when he fought Paul Smith not to mention Alexander Brand who is a lifetime super middleweight.

What kind of fighter tries to bring up a fighter from the weight class below them, but then demand tuneups first for themselves? Since when does the bigger fighter need tuneups to face someone from the lower division? That is what Ward tried to do with Golovkin.

So let's just talk the facts. What would the fans say if GGG said he was willing to fight Canelo, but only if HBO gave GGG two tuneups first against Joshua Clottey and Jan Zaveck? What if GGG was literally ducking Canelo, and refusing to fight him, until HBO paid him to fight Jan Zaveck and Humberto Soto first to get ready for Canelo?

If GGG demanded that, the backlash he would get would be 100x times what Ward got for actually doing that (LOL!). That just shows the real double standard is not in favor of fighters like GGG, but is actually in favor of fighters like Ward.

The expectations are incredibly low for Ward. No matter how low his career sunk the last five years, there were still some fans defending him, still some keeping him #2 on their pound for pound lists.

This man went four or five years without even TRYING to fight one top opponent. He apparently sued his own promoter for no other reason I can think of except for his promoter had set up the Super 6 for him to win and become a "star," and now his promoter wanted him to actually take the star fights, the PPV fights, against the top opponents, to start making bank, at least that's what would make sense and that was the sense people were getting at the time. But Ward it seems wanted to be able to pick his own opponents, not the top ones. Except then even after Goosen, he tried to pull that with HBO, and they said they wouldn't go for it even with Roc Nation promoting him, and sent him to BET.

So Ward was the epitome of everything wrong with the sport during this time, and some fans still defended him. If GGG sued his promoter x times, lost every time, used it as an excuse to duck Jacobs, Canelo, Saunders, and Quillin for the next four years, boxing fans would never let him live it down. But when it comes to fighters like Ward and Floyd, there seems to be a double standard that says they can do no wrong. That the same standards don't apply to them as everyone else.

Even now he's fighting Kovalev since HBO said he had to fight Kovalev or GGG if he wanted a contract with them, make no mistake, there's a reason he wouldn't fight Stevenson before. Obviously Kovalev is not an easy fight or Ward would have pushed for it before HBO demanded it, but as much as I expect Kovalev to win, you can bet Ward looked at Kovalev out of all the top guys and said a european fighter without great hand speed... I can beat those guys. But a slick southpaw in Stevenson with just as much speed as Ward, and a bazooka for a left hand? He will never fight Stevenson. If he wouldn't fight Bute, you can bet he won't fight Stevenson lol. I knew from the moment Kovalev and Stevenson came on the scene that if Ward had to fight one or the other, he would choose Kovalev.

That's the double standard. Ward can pick and choose styles he likes within his own weight class, 175 (because even at 168 he was a "scaled down light heavyweight" according to his trainer, so 175 is natural for him), but GGG is expected to fight everyone in his weight class, and he does. No offense to AB but GGG is the real can man. Anyone can get it. They may not want it with GGG, but he will fight anyone. With Ward it just doesn't seem to work that way, as Yvon Michel alluded to earlier.
You also forgot to state that if golovkin demanded at least 2m to fight those you've mentioned before squaring canela all hell breaks loose

Loeffler didn't do an interview with BoxingScene, he did one with the L.A. Times.

Loeffler said the email from an official of Ward’s promoter, Roc Nation Sports, extends a 50/50 purse-split offer to fight in 2016 after each fighter took one fight earlier in the year.

Lol GGG has brutally KNOCKED OUT every single middleweight CHAMPION & number one CONTENDER who has dared to fight him. What's he supposed to do? Refuse to fight the Wade's of the world & lose his belts in the process? He's said many times since day one that being unified middleweight champions his #1 goal.

CoWARD on the hand has fought a steady string of bums over the last few years Brand, Barrera, Smith, Rodriguez. Lol who the hell are they? In fact his last "live" opponent was an extremely limited Carl Froch who decided to retire instead of stepping into the ring with GGG. Just like that other CoWARD Chavez Jr who refused millions from myself to step in the ring with Golovkin.

Also, big LOL at Canelo's resume. Everybody know's he's paying off the judges after the Mayweather draw so received some very questionable decisions e.g. Lara. Also, his last few opponents have been walking corpses e.g. Khan, Kirkland, Smith. I guess he's taken a leaf out of CoWARD's opponent selection process lol.

CoWARD may be fighting the #1 LHW in the world but GGG tried to fight the #2 middleweight in the world only for him to vacate his belt & continue to fight bums a weight division lower lol.
