Lmao pbc has always had terrible promoting and advertising. And then there were the morons defending PBC because of competing sports.

They just did a ****ty job of promoting and there was a lack of good fights. The majority of the good fights drew numbers whether at the venue and/or TV.

With so many promoters and issues with Tv providers, there's no wonder why boxing continues to die.

Well damn. One major problem are that so many of these PBC are mid-grade talent and yet expect major money for anything remotely difficult (Charlo/JRock, DeGale/Jack).

It sounds great to me if it's true. That's why most of us are saying that since PBC budget started drying up, Al would be forced to make or accept the tougher fights for his guys. I hope it continues.

Yep. Boxing is just awful these days. Every network sucks, damn near none of the best fights are made, every fighter wants to pretend they are a star and prevent good fights from happening, and even when they're willing the networks don't want to pay for it. Fans allow this to happen by becoming fanboys paying for mismatches rather than demanding the best fights.

I really hope this is just an America problem and that boxing can just shift internationally and revive itself there, because boxing in the States is doomed.

Charlo talking about the JRock fight being worth millions. No one knows who the **** either guy is. That's where Haymon's ability to get obscene purses bites him in the ass, because he can't afford to give all these pathetic divas the millions they want for any halfway tough fight.

Unfortunately that attitude has infected the entire sport, not just PBC.

Back when PBC first started and people were saying that Haymon was going to be boxing's Dana White, myself and quite a few others pointed out that the UFC model wouldn't work in boxing, because, unlike MMA before Dana White, boxing is awash with money.

If Al had taken the same, "company first, fighter second" approach as Dana, there would be no incentive for anybody to sign with him, especially not big name fighters.

Boxing in the rest of the world is running much as normal. Over here we are supposedly in a bit of 'golden age' (lol)

But the top level of boxing is what we are fans for and, other than the lowest and highest weights, America is where all the fighters live and train.

Kinda get the impression that the whole thing needs to fail completely before anyone takes notice.

it's a shame because i really like the idea of a centralised boxing infrastructure and i've been hoping for a while that some multi-millionaire(s) would come along and buy out the sanctioning bodies and promoters, but haymon just doesn't seem to be a boxing man or have much of an idea how to engage the fans. he's a manager playing promoter and realising how hard it is

                      Pretty much spot on mate.

I said a while back that Haymon should have started PBC smaller and tried to build it up. Get all those teething problems out the way when you are not in the limelight, and not spending millions on every fight. Get a plan together and make sure your package is polished and ready to go by the time it hits the mainstream. Get some data back on which fights are selling which arent, how to sell fighters etc etc

As it is they are 1.5 years and $100s of millions into the experiment and still seem a bit clueless as to how to do this thing.
