Excellent Match Up! I think Brook can flat out beat Canelo though, Like I said BEFORE the fight with GGG I think Brook would be a beast at 154 and I think he can beat MOST at 154

Lets wait and see what Oscar will say about this potential match up, not sure if he will be so eager to do this one

If HBO had balls they would refuse to air any of GGG's and Canelo's fights until they agree officially and fight each other. HBO is becoming part of the problem. This isn't even like a networks issue, its just plain ducking on Canelo's part.

I really hope Oscar takes a big snort of the white powder and comes to the same conclusion himself!

You could be right about that

This is a fight I've always wanted to see. It has kind of lost its luster a bit since Brook suffered that broken orbital bone. We don't know if it will make him damaged goods going forward. A fight with Canelo at 154 would be on more even terms. I'd still give Canelo the size advantage but its nowhere near the concession he made against GGG. Triple G was far too strong and made him look every bit like a WW in there. If the orbital bone doesn't play a factor, I don't see Canelo stopping Brook. The guy took a bunch of heavy shots that scored well from Golovkin and didn't go down. Outside of the early wobble, he took the shots pretty well. His counter shots would be more effective against a more measured opponent like Canelo. The only thing is his movement isn't what it used to be. I know Golovkin is a master at cutting the ring off but Brook used to be a lot more elusive in there. Maybe it was the weight gain or residual effects from the machete attack. Then again when you got Triple G coming at you the way he did in the 3rd round there's not a lot you can do. Brook landed good counter hooks and uppercuts and Gennady just took them. I don't think Canelo walks through Brook that way. He isn't that active and he doesn't have the footwork of Golovkin. Brook would be a live dog in this fight and could certainly upset the apple cart of the September showdown between GGG-Canelo. I'm ok with this fight. In a perfect world Canelo takes the BJS strap while GGG solidifies the WBA belt with a Jacobs win on the way to a September showdown. But if that can't happen and Canelo stays at 154 this is one of the better fights that can be made unless a guy like Thurman moves up. I know the Charlo's won't be considered because they aren't draws and are high risk, same for Andrade.

as much as I wish something like that could happen, lets face it that its not HBOs problem to solve. They are not tasked with being the "saviors" of boxing. They are a content provider who's only goal is to secure content they feel their subscribers want, and content that in the end is profitable for the network. Nothing more.... nothing less.......

That's why he's gone for the WBO title at 154 too. No next day weigh ins or anything like the IBF where you can't gain more than 10lbs and no 30 day weigh ins like the WBC.

He basically has free reign to weigh as much as he likes through camp and fight night as long as he makes weight on weigh-in

There's no way Canelo will ever fight for the IBF haha.

Brook is naturally bigger than Cotto, significantly bigger. He's just very good at cutting weight when he needs to.
Dude in all honesty, the fact Brook is bigger than Cotto doesn't mean he punches harder than Cotto, in fact I'd take Cotto's poer anytime, anyday of the week over brook, and if Cotto's punches didn't do **** to Canelo, Brook will make him laugh.

Canelo vs Brook is a mismatch the same ay GGG vs Brook Was PERIOD

I'm not saying Brook would KO Canelo. Canelo has a great chin, nobody can deny that. I can't see him KO'ing Brook either though.
