  • Comments Thread For: Canelo vs. Brook Draws HBO's Interest For May 2017, Says Hearn

This past Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, IBF/IBO/WBC/WBA middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25KOs) took part in what GGG called "a crazy street fight."

Why? Brook trying to cash out like khan. Let him get a win besides Shawn Porter

That would be a very interesting match up because Brook would actually be able to move around the ring effectively against the counter punching Alvarez who likes for his opponents to come at him. However, he should avoid fighting him in the U.S though; Especially in Texas or Nevada where the judging have been more than dubious and suspect at times.

I don't think that's a good fight for brook tbh. He would need at least 1 tune up at 54 with the time he will be out. Brook is a good fighter..that being said, he's a good WW, but all anyone has to do is watch his fights with Carson Jones to realize he's not quite slick enough to pull off a win against Canelo. Saul has improved a lot since the Mayweather schooling imo. If brook was able to move for 12 rds slip and counter, I think he would have something for Canelo, but I'd be more concerned after the eye injury. I think in the WW division he would've beaten Thurman, and some other good fighters, but spence is likely going to be the next top WW.

What is comes down to is Brook is excellent in the first 5-6 rds of a fight, takes a lot of punches for a few rds and will often finish pretty strong.

Canelo beat Cotto, but I don't think that Brook could beat him either. Cotto got hit very little with big shots in that fight, Cotto is A level, but slipped a bit. Brook is a solid B level fighter, not quite good enough for the elites.

Easy fight for Brook. Canelo is way less powerful, slower, stationary, hesitates to attack. Brook would have a field day and would stop Canelo easily.
