He doesn't need GGG and the reason they keep talking about GGG is because GGG keeps name dropping and begging him for a fight. Floyd kept talking about Manny as he went along making other big fights in the meantime too. If GGG focused on 160 and stopped talking about fighters who have never fought at 160 a day in their life then those fighters would stop responding to this clown. But that's what you do when you have a crap resume and can't create buzz on your own.Comment

So many biased fanboys on this site it's crazy. If Brook is the A-side, name me one time he sold out a stadium before fighting GGG? It's only GGG who can make that happen for him.
Same with Canelo-GGG. Oscar himself has called that the biggest fight in boxing. Are you saying that's just because of Canelo? Because he is currently fighting Liam Smith and that is not considered the biggest fight in boxing. Only with GGG is it the biggest fight in boxing. Therefore, GGG has massive value. Canelo-Smith is maybe 200k pay per view buys. Canelo-GGG is 1 mil at least. So there you have it, Canelo by himself is 200k, while GGG adds 800k more. Likewise, GGG can't get 1 mil without Canelo.
They are both valuable. The split should be basically the same as Mayweather-Pacquiao. 60-40 is very fair. If Canelo's PPV vs Smith underperforms, and he proves he can't do any better than GGG vs Lemieux, that will show both are in similar boats and it should be 50-50. I think people overestimate Canelo's drawing power. The only PPVs he did good were Floyd and Cotto. That just proves boxing fans pay for good fights, between two good guys, not for single fighters. I bet you Kovalev-Ward does twice as much as Canelo-Smith even though Canelo is a bigger star than either of them. That's because boxing fans pay for premier matchups, not for one fighter. And even though GGG-Lemieux was a good hardcore matchup, Lemieux had no name recognition in the US. So comparing Canelo-Cotto to GGG-Lemieux is a joke.
I think that now that Canelo is fighting someone as unknown as Lemieux, we're going to get a more accurate picture of things and I bet we find out that Canelo is not much more of a PPV attraction than GGG is.Comment

I have no issue with the flat fee. This is about what I thought he would get anyways. He doesn't have the numbers on his side. And the talk between the two sides has become so contentious, GBP has no real interest in being nice. He should just accept because he'll still be getting a career high payday in a fight where he's favored to win.Comment

No need to extend GGG special privilege.Comment

Exactly. That's what Floyd did with Oscar gave in to the A side demands gave up weight and let Oscar take the much large lion share of money to make the fight. Get the exposure and if you win you get to make A side demands and infinitely more money the rest of your career. So why the coward GGG refusing to drop weight after he said he would go to 154 for Floyd? And now a career payday isn't good enough but when he offers lesser fighters a fight it's non negotiable take the money I offer I am the A side and if you don't take then you are ducking me by pricing yourself out. Why don't the same apply to him when Canelo is clearly the A side.Comment

Good point. I would sympathize with GGG if he didn't play the same A-side bull**** when it came to Ward. Now, he's getting the same treatment from Canelo. And his fans are crying the blues.Comment
