Thing is, Haymon lacks the will, the eye for the sport and any understanding on how to build a boxing star (fighters have regressed under him).
Then why do his fighters keep pricing themselves out of legit, inhouse fights and taking on no hopers?

These are inhouse fights they are turning down, Haymon can't really lose on them. Not significantly anyway.

They can afford to turn down these fights because while HBO/Top Rank/GBP is still around they have leverage. Just the same as it is on HBO with fighters leveraging them for more money all the time. All the top fighters and their teams know that the opposite side of the pond is waiting if their bosses dont do what they want.

If HBO's boxing program is cut, and Haymon has a pretty much free run at the American market, the big fights in his stable get made. Until then, he can only make fights his fighters are ok with making, and he will be paying a hefty price for it too

Consumer backlash. I and other boxing fans are going to watch because we like the sport. The casual "star" fan (like we see here on NSB) is only going to watch if the guy is a name. If the names are not fighting regularly he hurts his product.

I'd argue the critic mass of consumers PBC needs aren't even there yet &/or are still arriving to the scene as we speak. If PBC is living or dying on making you & I happy & loyal with high level fights on PBC networks they will without question die regardless of the fights they make.

PBC needs to bring in new fans, bring back old fans & get the general sports fans interesting in boxing again to succeed. Those groups don't know what fights are big or not big & are more susceptible to believing whatever the commentators or hype is trying to steer the narrative towards.

If the names are not fighting regularly he hurts his product.
Thats a problem for the sport as much as with PBC so what you are kinda implying is that there is no future for boxing on network TV. To me doe this is the same thing the UFC is dealing with with their TV deal. In an individual non-tournament, one on one spot this is always going to be an issue with guys fighting cuz of injuries to the "name" or to the names opponent. And I have noticed that PBC has been replacing some co-main caliber fight opponents with minimum time til the fight very much like the UFC recently. I believe most recently with the prospect who lost to that Ugas cuban guy & with Felix Diaz being put in fairly late vs a higher caliber prospect in Sammy Vasquez.

I think if PBC got a similar deal to the UFC (6? fights a year on Fox + lotsa lesser shows on Fox Sports 1) its not gonna be hard to maintain that sorta schedule for the big fights if you just come up with solid co-mains that can double for the main fight if the main fight falls through. And when you are just trying to keep guys active you can throw the Quillin vs the stripper guy fight on the lesser network & when you got the Quillin vs Chavez Jr fight or whatever you throw that on the main network with a co-main of Spence vs Peterson or something like that. And then PBC still seems to have a deal with Showtime so if there are too many guys for those 6 dates you throw those guys on Showtime & you can always switch guys in & out to try to help those guys only on the national network to sign up to Showtime to help build up Showtime's audience too.

And thats just my clear path to success for PBC which is probably rudimentary, at best, to the actual blueprint to what PBC is working for which seems all but guaranteed with the live sports money out there that most boxing fans seem to have lil understanding of or are in denial about & of the lower barrier of entry to appealing to those with that money via ratings.

Yep. Broner vs Mathhysse is a shining example of that. It was a fight that should have been made right after they lost their respective fights with Maidana and Garcia. It didn't happen unlike in the Arum camp where losers face each other right away.

Broner and Matthysse then fought as undercards TWICE in the same cards, but not facing each other. And in the second card Broner started calling out Matthysse only to reject it later by his own trainer.

          Schaefer: Broner-Matthysse Would Be Unbelievable
Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, sees a lot of options for Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 33KOs) - at 140 and 147. On Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, Matthysse took part in a 'Fight of The Year' candidate when he overcame two knockdowns and scored three of his own to knock John Molina out in eleven rounds. Matthysse would like to fight Danny Garcia in a rematch, but the WBA/WBC 140-pound champion is likely having his final match at junior welterweight in July. Garcia plans to be at 147 by the end of the year.

Matthysse moved on and went back to GBP. Fight is gone forever.

It will happen but it won't be done for free and it won't be for CHEAP! For it to happen those guys will have to be PAID WELL and rightfully so.

I'm sure announcements will pop up any day now with some big fights for all of them and yes hopefully it is them fighting each other.

PBC lost $430 million in one year and Haymon has very little to show for it.
              I don't think he's doing anything differently.

Just like when he left HBO and Showtime.

That could explain some things but the overall set up, the TV dates, the whole PBC brand etc etc is run by Haymon, if he didn't want a fight, he wouldn't have it on HIS OWN DAMN SHOW and that's the problem. Haymon thinks his strategy of 2 years of **** fights is going to work...well newsflash, it's already failed.

Yeah, I don't think Haymon himslf has that much power to force his fighters to sign to real fights. PBC, Protecting Boxers from Challenges. If this was the UFC, Garcia and Thurman would've already fought each other.

All promoters have these kind of problems, most of the time promoters want good fights, it is the managers and trainers that put the brakes on and so the promoter has to compromise. You'd certainly think that Haymon could make these bigger fights if he tried hard enough, after all he has a strong advisory contract with them so they aren't going to go elsewhere plus he seems to be renowned for his capacity to sweet talk and impress people. However it is easier to convince a fighter to do what you want than it is the typical manager.

You're forgetting one major point, PBC and all the tv dates available are Hyamon's platform. Yes there are people in partnership with him but it's Haymon's show, that was the whole point of him splitting with the established order.

If the a fighter or his promoter (which is non-existent considering most of these guys have exclusive contracts with Haymon with some shill has a promoter) turns a big fight down, they just wont have a TV date to fight on. Haymon can and should make it happen, the fact that he doesn't, in a span of almost 2 years, says he doesn't want to, not that he can't.
