Why can't Haymon...

The title was unified in the late 80s and multiple times throughout the 90s, what's your point?Comment

I think its a combination of them de-emphasizing belts (as they stated when the show premiered) but more waiting to see if they get new deals to stage some of these fight, which IMO is a mistake.
They need to make the charlo/J rock fight and pair it with Garcia/Thurman (Berto or Broner assuming Thurman isn't healthy yet) or Spence/Brook (or IBF mandated opponent if Brook vacates as expected), especially now that Deontay is done for the rest of the year.Comment

My point is that before you you use King and Arum to take a stab at Haymon for not setting up unification bouts, you need to remember that from June of 1978 (Holmes won WBC title vs Norton) until March of 1987 (Tyson unified vs Smith), Don King controlled both the WBC and WBA titles (the only credible titles back then) and didn't unify them.Comment

Yea thats probably a solid estimation. You do gotta save some fights when you do get that $75M TV deal or whatever.
Why do you feel that'd be a mistake?Comment

Well yeah I'd be thanking Haymon too if I'd just got paid a million plus dollars to fight the likes of Salka.
I just dont think its a case of Haymon saying jump and his fighters saying how high. They clearly have a good amount of say in who they fight and the path their careers take.Comment

thats utter bs, seriously man. No fighter is THAT in control unless they cut themselves from everyone else, like mayweather and...well only Mayweather and maybe a latter stage Oscar. If Haymon wanted to make Garcia v Thurman, it'd get made yesterday. Thing is, Haymon lacks the will, the eye for the sport and any understanding on how to build a boxing star (fighters have regressed under him).Well yeah I'd be thanking Haymon too if I'd just got paid a million plus dollars to fight the likes of Salka.
