Ive said it once, and I will say it a thousand times. Al Haymon is a manager, not a promoter. His best interest is for his clients not the sport of boxing. He gets his clients a title and then comes the $, he does what a good manager should do. The only problem is he is a Manager acting as a Promoter so in this instance its the EXACT OPPOSITE OF THE ALI ACT. When you manipulate the Ali act like this the integrity of the sport is effected. If you think about it it would be un-ethical for a manager to choose 1 of his clients over another. How could Haymon choose between Spence, THurman, and Garcia? He could choose guys like porter that have an L already or lesser guys from small promoters in hopes his guy beats them. You notice how Spence is ranked high by the IBF and WBO? Neither are belts his guys hold...unify most of welterweight and light middle? When guys like King and Arum ran the welters and heavies throughout the 80s, 90s and early 00s, with the help of HBO, managed to unify those divisions on multiple occasions.
So why can't Haymon, possibly the most well financed boxing manager in history do the same? Considering the majority of the top guys in both divisions are signed to him. It took almost 2 years to make Thurman v Porter, Garcia has fought scrubs, Andrade, the Charlos et al are avoiding each other like the plague.
What's going on?Comment

The premise of the thread is fighters exclusive to PBC. Lemieux isn't exclusive to HBO just like I tried to tell you earlier duh
David Lemieux vs Fabian Rios ( 21-7-3, 6 KOs ).

Yeah, I really don't understand it. He should have had his own belts with the launch of pbc and done 4 man tournaments to crown champsunify most of welterweight and light middle? What's going on?
140- garcia, lamont, lucas, broner
147- Porter, thurman, ghost, khan
154- lara, charo, j-rock, trout
160- jacobs, Quillen, lee, etc
He could have really started pbc with a **** instead of slowly trying to build these fightsComment

I wouldn't really call it "building fights" when top guys are lucky to fight more than once a year. It's a terrible state of affairs.Yeah, I really don't understand it. He should have had his own belts with the launch of pbc and done 4 man tournaments to crown champs

I never talked about the modern, under-funded state of HBO in my post. I specifically mentioned a time period (1980s-early 00s) when the HBO "owned" divisions were regularly unified. Two of the four belts in the WW division are held by PBC fighters. It's been that way for less than a year. One of their title holders has a mandatory to fulfill. Not only that but his he had a fight scheduled before the other PBC WW won his title. HBO has had their fighters hold three of the 4 MW titles for almost two years and never got a unification. And they allowed two of their fighters to avoid their mandatory and allowed one of them to drop his mandatory.
Haymon has world title holders from 147-154, that fact hasn't changed. Let's deal with the facts here.Comment

I think there is a bigger game being played here than most people believe or wanna believe with their 9 year old autistic boy attention span. I don't think people understand how much money is getting thrown out for live sports these days. I don't think people realize this isn't a scratch off lottery ticket type gonna have a mill or lost your dollar in 8 seconds type of thing, this is one of those 52 stage, 7 week biking events with lotsa of strategy & back and forth thats gonna take awhile to get figured out. And I don't think most people understand the value the sport of boxing can still have in sports entertainment today.
Unifying a division isn't as important a goal here than just having PBC gaining ground in the TV world & with acquiring new boxing fans. These new boxing fans got no clue who the f#ck most of these top boxers are & are just learning the PBC guys. Give it another two years & more people in the US, who no lil to nothing about boxing, are gonna know Errol Spence or Keith Thurman or some other PBC guy than any other boxer in the sport or affiliated with any other entity in the sport. Takes time doe.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 09-02-2016, 07:32 AM.Comment

That's a load of bollocks and you know it. If they want to bring in new viewers, they have to put on the best fights and make champions in divisions, not title holders that get new fans asking, "Huh, so if he's champ AND he's champ...who's the champ?"I think there is a bigger game being played here than most people believe or wanna believe with their 9 year old autistic boy attention span. PBC has further muddied the waters because it takes them far too long to get their top fighters to fight each other.
Hopefully that changes in the next 12 months or so.Comment
