You're right. Performance Enhancing Drugs, just ponder the name for a minute, dont "guarantee a w". They do however, guarantee that you will be stronger, faster, have more endurance, quicker recovery time, etc. than you otherwise would. You can train longer and harder and more often than you otherwise would. That soreness the day after a very intense workout, gone. That breathlessness you feel after a run, gone. Those weights that were heavy before, lighter now.
Moreso than any other sport, PEDs should rightfully be banned in combat sports. Look at Mark McGwire. Think about the extra strength he had and how much further he could hit the ball on roids. Do you want all that extra strength and power being aimed at your head? A roided fighter can kill his opponent. Or look at Lance Armstrong. Look how much extra stamina and speed he had. Do you want all that extra speed in the ring with you? Do you want to be in the ring with a guy who is still fresh after 8 or 10 rounds when you're sucking wind? A fresh fighter with extra strength that I eluded to earlier? A roided fighter can kill someone in the ring. We're not talking about smacking a ball out the park farther or riding a bicycle faster and farther. We're taking about combat. Where men have died in the ring. Do you want more deaths in boxing?
Instead of browsing the web for links, I would advise you to go to a local gym. Ask an athlete there who has used, if you can find one that will admit to it, and ask him what the effects are. Ask him how much longer he can work out, how much farther he could run, how much more often he could train. I just cant keep arguing with someone who hasnt taken them, telling me about something I have taken.
