But K2 afford to have it go to purse bid knowing GGG has an exclusive contract with HBO?If it goes to purse bid, it's a 75/25 split in Golovkin's favor, that makes it somewhat prohibitive for Jacobs to allow it to goto purse and more in his favor to negotiate a deal (if he wants to keep his belt).
Per the video below (@1:10), Jacobs says he's been offered the same amount of money to fight Golovkin as he received to fight Quillin ($1.5mill). Likely K2 was using the Lemieux model to come up with an offer. He calls that chump change, even though his next highest payday was the first Mora fight where he earned $550k.
With a 75/25 split, Haymon would need to bid over $6mill to get Danny a higher payday than the $1.5mill he says he's been offered. For Wilder/Povetkin, team Haymon bid $5.1mill, and that was when Wilder was getting a 70/30 split.
Haymon could do him just like he did Kov.Comment

I imagine everyone will work to avoid purse bid, but if it goes, then we shall see. K2/HBO won't take it lightly, losing a title goes against everything they've been working towards. If K2's looking to make the fight in Nov/Dec, where all the rhetoric from Jacob's side is late 2017, then I think K2 is confident they'll bring the fight to HBO.Comment

I keep hearing Loeffler says he wants to make these fights but never heard about K2 actual efforts to make the fights. Not that Trip is scared. It could be that even with the sell outs the ticket prices and TV revenue isn't high enough to pay the good MWs market value.Comment

if thats the case then those "good MWs" have over-estimated their value. Jacobs-Quillin, both NY guys, and with and all-NY undercard couldnt even sell 8,000 tickets, and did crap tv ratings. What makes his "market value" several million dollars? Keep in mind he just took a 50% pay cut from the Quillin fight to the Mora fight.......Comment
